r/Windows11 on Reddit: Does Windows 11 has an efficient OCR to copy paste similat to the MacOS photo one ?
April 10, 2025 -

To give some context, I just started to work in a publishing company (where most employees use Mac), in which they regularly copy past texts from books scans (jpeg and png) with the MacOS photo app.

Their OCR function seams really powerful (great ponctuation detection, rare mistakes in words spelling, intelligent detection of carriage return needed or not), and I wanted to know if Windows11 had some OCR adapted to scan texts from books ?

I tried the snipping tool OCR and OneNote OCR but both of them keep consider that each text lign is a paragraph, have regularly issues detecting ponctuation (for exemple they never identify « ») which lead to a lot of post process work.

I know some great apps are available online, but most of them aren't free.

Ps: please forgive the general quality of my writing, I'm not really fluent in English.
