r/CleaningTips on Reddit: What dryer setting actually dries a comforter in one go?
June 12, 2023 -

Absolutely every time I wash my comforter, i I throw it in the dryer, take it out, get ready for bed, and immediately realize that the comforter is still damp. Today when I washed my blankets I was more careful. When the initial dry was done, I took the other stuff out, and ran the comforter for another 15 minutes. When I took it out, it felt dry to the touch.

Feeling all proud of myself for learning, I put the comforter on my bed and laid down, just to realize that once again, the comforter is still damp. I just went to put it for another timed dry for 25 minutes.

June 7, 2021 - If possible, dry your comforter on a cycle designed for bulky items and customize the cycle to dry with low or no heat, unless the label says otherwise. Add two or three dryer balls to the load so that the filling moves around as it dries.

Hack for drying bedding efficiently?
I don't have anything that works amazingly well but seems to work incrementally better. I use wool dryer balls with every dryer load. The fitted sheet is the biggest problem bc everything rolls up inside of it. I roll up the fitted sheet and unfitted sheets separately before putting in the dryer. It's not perfect, but It seems to not tangle as much. I'll also pause the dryer mid cycle, untangle the sheets, and turn the sheets inside out so the damp parts have a chance to dry. If and when the for is done, I'll take anything out that's fully dry (usually at least three pillowcases), turn the sheets inside out so the damp part is exposed and run a 20 min time dry and see how things are from there. Another solution is to hang dry the sheets until they're half it mostly dry and then put them in the dryer. More on reddit.com

How often should you wash your comforter or duvet?
Unlike your bedsheets and pillowcases, which should be washed every week or two, your comforter doesn’t require frequent cleanings. Unless you spill something, cleaning your comforter 2-4 times per year should be enough. If your comforter is seasonal, it’s recommended you go through the cleaning process before and after each storage.

March 19, 2024 - Percale may wrinkle more (that’s part of its charm), while sateen resists wrinkles for a polished look straight from the dryer. 6. The Best of Both Worlds Many people rotate the two: percale in summer for its cool crispness and sateen in cooler months for its silky density. Both improve with age; the more you wash them, the softer and more comfortable they become.
