Hi Jan, I'm Marie I'd be happy to help you today
When the computer is in S mode you can't install applications outside Microsoft Store, you can search Canon website for the driver if they provide it in the Store, if they don't have it you cannot install the printer driver in S Mode.
In this case our best option is to switch out of S mode.

Thank you.
But the system (S mode) won't allow me to install the driver downloaded from Cannon's website. Is there a way around this without switching out of S mode?

Hello there! sorry if it sounds silly but I'm having trouble installing a simple printer driver and it's quite annoying.
I have two Canon image Runner 2520, I want to install the driver using USB but cannot install the driver, I googled before and tried all ways I could find (generic driver, manual using .inf file, run as administrator, trying different OS like win7,10,11)while I want to install the driver it does not detect the printer
Any thoughts would be helpful.
I've just resolved this myself. I checked "Devices" and the printer wasn't shown. That brought up a Troubleshooter that found my Canon printer and showed me how to add my printer.
Thanks for your help
Cannon support for your printer model, install full feature software and follow the prompts
Hey, I had some problems with my old canon printer (IP4200 in my case) connecting to my windows 10 computer, windows kept detecting an "inkjet printer" but said "driver is unavailable". I didn't find another complete topic so I hope this one will be beneficial for those who come here from google, etc and are less tech savvy
First of all know that the old printers should still work with the newer windows installations, sometimes without some functionalities (some people said printing works but scanning not) so that's why canon are saying it's not compatible.
The key to make it work is to go to canon's website, ignore them detecting your new Windows saying there aren't any drivers and look for the newest OS they say is still supported (In my case win7), make sure you select your build (64bit/32bit, nowadays if you don't know you're probably x64) and download. Once downloaded, install. If you want to make sure it'll run it, do Right click -> Properties -> Compatibility and change the drop-down menu to that OS (win7/vista etc), and also run the program as administrator.
Then go to printers settings, click "remove device" if it was badly detected before, unplug and plug your printer and it should appear with its name.
Last thing, If the driver you downloaded didn't make the charm, notice that there are apparently two Canon driver websites. For me downloading from Canon UK website ( PIXMA iP4200 - Support - Download drivers, software and manuals - Canon UK ) didn't work, but the driver version on the USA website( Support | iP Series | PIXMA iP4200 | Canon USA ) did the trick
Edit; If I helped you, and you are into fashion, jewelry and/or beauty (either as a consumer or business), I'd appreciate if you can PM me :) I'm working on an important problem in these areas and would love some feedback.
Preparing for Windows 11 upgrades in our environment, how would I go about adding/installing print drivers on our print server.
More specifically, we have Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5550i (https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/imagerunner-advance-c5550i#idReference%3Dsoftware-drivers) copiers. So do I want to download the “Windows 11” drivers and add those to our print server so that windows 11 machines can print to them again, or do i want to download/add the Server’s latest OS version?
Have you tested with a test W11 machine to see if this is necessary? I’ve nearly completed my migration to W11 and didn’t have to touch any of our existing print server drivers. They all just worked. I don’t have any Canon printers, but I can’t imagine there’s such a difference between W10 and W11 that a driver upgrade would be required.
