I've been playing minecraft for seven years on a mac; I had things dialed in, but the mac's been dying a slow death, and it was time to get a new laptop. Now I'm re-learning how to play due to the configuration.
I feel like there's got to be a way to do this - is there a way to hold a right click on Windows touchpads? On a mac you can hold ctrl+click... this way, you could either use ctrl to sprint or to right click - including either clicking a button or holding to eat.
I've reprogrammed the sprint key to ALT on this keyboard, since I can no longer reach it with my thumb... but is there a way to program Windows to recognize alt+click on a touchpad to be a right click? Have others found other successful alternate key configurations? Would love to be able to continue to play without a mouse (at least to have that option)

The reason is that a number of us with Mac laptops have no mouse handy (playing on a lap or lapboard, or somewhere else without room for a mouse), and Control-click was our natural preference for right-clicking (we do it in all other programs for right-click; it's a natural finger move for us). So at some point LWJGL (Java library Minecraft depends on) stopped interpreting Control-click as a right-click like every other Mac program does (and Minecraft did).

I use both the "two finger" click to right click, or I have gone into the computer trackpad settings and made sure I turned on the right side of the pad as a right click. Both can work but it just depends on the type/model of computer you have.

press f3 + p to toggle Pause on lost focus so the game will not pause in the background press f11 to go into fullscreen press f11 again to go out of fullscreen when the screen is changing, release the mouse button (this is the key) alt-tab out of the game In 1.14 you can do it by reloading resources with f3 + t and releasing the mouse button. Alternatively there's [[TapeMouse]] which is a mod that means you don't need to use an input glitch to get a key stuck down.
