Turn Samsung Earbuds Into An Entry Level Hearing Aid
If you have hearing loss, you'll need more amplification than the average user. If you've maxed out the Ambient Sound volume and still need more boost, scroll down to the "Labs" section of the Ambient Sound screen and toggle on the "Extra-high ambient volume" setting. Yes. If you have Galaxy Buds Pro (and possibly some other versions) you can adjust Ambient Sound in one earbud aid at a time.

Samsung Galaxy Buds Live - Hearing Aid Forum - Active Hearing Loss Community
Must say I’m quite hyped about the new upcoming Samsung Galaxy Buds Live. Why? Well, first because it’s an open type earbud with active noise cancellation. The ANC is also different from what’s in Bose and AirPods Pro. Samsung is marketing it as “ANC reduces background noises without missing what’s important, like voices and announcements, so you hear more of what you want to hear”. Sounds quite useful if you want to hear speech in noise?

July 29, 2025 - Great question, unfortunately I don't have an answer, but what I know is that you can increase mic sensitivity in buds wearable app, accessibility settings. ... I don't see why you can't use them that way, using the phone's accessibility settings to amplify ambient sound. Since the FDA approved OTC hearing devices some years ago, there is no reason to require FDA approval to use earbuds as hearing enhancers.

March 22, 2021 - But while Samsung isn’t advocating the Galaxy Buds Pro as a one-to-one replacement to hearing aids, the study does make a good point in suggesting headphones with ambient/transparency modes could be useful in low- and middle-income countries, where hearing aids are prohibitively expensive. The World Health Organization’s research on deafness and hearing loss, cited in the Samsung study, notes that 80% of people with disabling hearing loss live in these countries, and that only 17% of those who could benefit from a hearing loss actually wear one.

I have a hearing loss of 50% Samsung Buds 3 pro has a feature to test your hearing loss based on several frequencies, and you need to answer if you hear it or you don't (yes/no questions). After the test is finished, the buds pro 3 are adjusted to your hearing loss. Any ambient sound is then amplified based on the test results. You can also increase or decrease that amplification, based on the situation (too much noise in a room full of people, you lower the amplification, etc). My experience: I used to listen to TV at 25-30 volume...now I can hear it at 12-15 perfectly, so a massive improvement! Cons: any sudden noises are too loud and makes you deaf for a couple of seconds (eg cleaning dishes, a metal item falling on the floor etc) Pros: all the features work on any Android phone (I have an Honor 200 Pro) Also it has a hiss sound if you put your fingers on the microphone (I think this is normal on hearing aids) It can be a bit overwhelming sometimes but overall is a great improvement depending on the situation. For example in a loud restaurant I am better off taking them off to hear my friends, as eitherwise it's too loud/uncomfortable. The software is quite good and you change settings based on situations. It does not include an audio graph (as Apple pods HA do) but perhaps Samsung might improve their software soon, don't know. Overall it has been a pleasant and cheap experience (HA cost thousands as you know). I've never tried proper HA or apple's new pods so I cannot say if they are better or worse...but to use Apple's will require to buy an iPhone, which is not in my plans right now... If you have an iPhone then clearly it's better to go for the apple buds as the experience would be similar or better than Samsung's. I hope that helps

I don't know if Samsung has a hearing aid feature like compared to Apple (at least for the time being) (to my knowledge).

Samsung says its Galaxy Buds Pro can match hearing aids - Techzine Global
March 22, 2021 - The study compared the efficacy of the Ambient Sound feature in the $200 Galaxy Buds Pro, which has four sound amplification levels, to a ReSound LiNX Quattro hearing aid (sells for thousands) and Etymotic Bean personal amplifier (about $700). The results found that Samsung’s earbuds significantly improve the sound but less successfully than the other devices tested. The research was completed in partnership with Samsung Medical Center as part of a wider campaign to demonstrate the potential true wireless earbuds have as therapeutic wearables for people dealing with hearing loss.
