I can't seem to find a solid answer. I've seen yes and no, but before I go out and buy a gift card for it I'd like to know, does it work?

A Google Pay balance can be used for You Tube Music. I collect money in my Pay balance from Google surveys and have it set as my primary payment method with a credit card backup. It does warn me each month if the Pay balance isn't enough, but it does correctly fall back to the credit card. Google is really, really confusing about payment methods and types of balances, and it's rules have changed over the years, so I'm not surprised it's hard to get a straight answer. But that's how mine is set up.

If you have a Google Play gift card just redeem it and have the YouTube pull from your Google Play balance That's how I do it.

Can someone confirm as of March 2025, you are still able to have a Youtube Live TV subscription paid for with Google Play cards?

Google Play advertises that you can get Youtube Premium with the cards, but we are needing/wanting the Live TV, so wanting to confirm. I understand the full balance has to be available and it won't split payments. But as long as the full charge is available in the balance, can you do it?

My mother got scammed into buying several hundred dollars of Google Play gift cards. We are Apple people who don't rent movies or books so this is our only hope on what to use them for. I want to confirm that it can be used towards Youtube TV before redeeming the cards, as our last ditch effort will be to just sell them for a huge loss😫

Haven't tried with YTTV, but I did pay for a year of Google One storage with them. Hopefully that's a helpful data point.

GP balance is definitely the way to go for YTTV!

Google says i can do it but when I go into billing I only see my linked card, does anyone know how to do this

If you are the main subscribing YTTV account just redeem a google play card in the google play app. Log out, then log back in and go to subscriptions/payments and you should see your google play balance. You can only use it to pay if your balance is above the $74 (or whatever it is now). Can't do a partial payment with google pay balance.

Make it your primary payment method, then it will use it if you have enough in your balance and use your backup if you don't. You might get some payment failed emails each month, but you can just ignore those.
