If tap to pay is accepted, it’s highly likely they’ll accept your Google Pay. Most places have a little sticker for Apple Pay, Google Pay, and then Visa, MasterCard, etc. It works the same as with a physical credit card! Just hold your phone over/tap it onto the card machine. I like to open up the wallet on my phone first before tapping, but I think the devices are actually smart enough that you don’t need to do that. You will possibly need to put in your passcode/authenticate yourself before the payment goes through, so just be ready for that. Answer from Smooth-Owl-5354 on reddit.com

Tap. Pay. Done.

Tap. Wait a moment. Nothing happens.

Cashier gives you a funny look.

"Do you... accept NFC payments?"

'Do we... what?'

"NFC... I mean Google Wal... uh... android pay?"

'You mean Apple Pay? No we don't take that.'

"No Android Pay. There's a sign right there on your register and there's clearly an NFC terminal at the top of your card reader."

'Oh no we don't have that. It's not hooked up.'

"Nevermind."

*takes out debit card*

How do I make contactless payments like where do I tap on my phone like wheres the chip and how would I pay if I'm only on the coverscreen how would I place it? (Didn't buy a flip yet)
The bottom half of the phone. I've gotten used to most of the Flips funny little quirks over the years but this one still catches me out haha, regularly find myself trying to use the top half of the phone whilst it's flipped open. I still favour Google Pay, so I open my phone to access Google Wallet instead of the Samsung shortcut on the cover screen for Samsung Pay so that probably adds to my own confusion (there's probably a way to use G Wallet on the cover screen it's just not a priority for me to sort atm, probably Good Lock). I don't have my card for the week and I need to get gas somehow, I've downloaded google pay and added my card but I don't know how to actually use it. Is it a tap like you would a card kind of situation? How do I know where I can use my phone to pay, I feel like it's not safe to assume any tap to pay location also takes google pay but I could be wrong?

Also while gas is the main concern I'm not nearly as worried about looking dumb at a pump as I am being unable to buy my groceries or something if it comes down to that so, advice for in-store checkouts would be super helpful too 😅
