Has anyone used a honeycomb or grid style TPE topper on their mattresses? There are slight differences in the formulas that make up elastomers for different stretch, rigidity, bounce, etc... so I'm not sure if any company in particular can patent every formula and type (Purple for example).

I started thinking about this because I had bought a honeycomb gel TPE seat pad from Costco a few years ago and realized this isn't unique to the Purple mattress brand.

It is fairly simple to make these bouncy gel like TPE materials in factories using molds and the right formula clearly.

For example on Alibaba there are several factories making them in any custom size (full, queen, King, etc). I messaged the sellers and they confirmed that they can make various sizes.

On Quora, a chemist (I am a chemist as well), had this to say regarding Purple:

"After a little digging, I found the trademark is for a “Plasticized elastomeric gel material sold as an integral component of cushioned products, namely, mattresses; Plasticized elastomeric gel material sold as an integral component of cushioned products, namely, seat cushions.”

I remember finding, through links from mattressunderground.com, years ago, sellers of Hyper-Elastic Polymer comfort layers. IIRC they came in hexagonal pattern as opposed to Purple's square. It was only one seller I saw at that time.

I'm now in the market for a Hyper-Elastic Polymer topper (boring details below) and was looking for a 2in Hyper-Elastic Polymer topper, but now i can't find any at all! does it exist anywhere?!

The elaboration: I've built my own mattress. All components are latex; a standard dunlop 6" core, a 3" talaylay medium and a 3" talaylay soft (maybe super soft) top. Turns out, too soft even for side sleepers. too much soft depth for sure. I took off the 3" soft top so i only have the 6" core and 3" medium, and of course it's too firm (blood circ getting cut off at my elbow and shoulder and now causing issues). I need a layer that's not super soft but still creates the support i need but most importantly, without making it hot. latex is a great material and I may still go that route but i liked i alot of the properties of the Hyper-Elastic Polymer top layer of my old Purple mattress (hated the mattress as a whole, liked the top Hyper-Elastic Polymer layer). so does anyone know of a seller of Hyper-Elastic Polymer toppers???
