How many splines are on the broach, how long is it and what's its diameter?

As according to faucetpartsplus.com, that's all you need to get started. They have an entire list for spline counts, listing them (below) to specific manufacturers. If you can't figure it out, they suggest sending them a photo, as they're very interested in selling you parts; manufacturers and their employes might not be so inclined. It's more than likely they'd only be able to refer you to who makes or has the replacement parts these days; not their prerogative.

Even though the link goes to an excellent array of pictures and contains most of the leading brands, I implore you to contact your local parts suppliers who are usually more than willing to help you.

You mentioned plumbing suppliers. Those are places you buy pipe and fancy toilets, you need a repair part supply house.

Faucet Cartridge and Stem Quick Guide – Equiparts
A faucet cartridge or stem is the part in a faucet or shower assembly that controls the amount and flow of water that comes out of the faucet. In some shower applications, stems also divert water from the spout to the shower head. Although cartridges and stems are two different parts, they both do the same thing, just in different ways. In this article, you will learn how to identify which stem or cartridge you need, what signs indicate you need to replace it, the different types of faucet stems and cartridges, the different types of shower cartridges, and how to find and order replacement stems and cartridges.

r/askaplumber on Reddit: How do I figure out what kind of faucet stem to buy
December 29, 2023 -

What's the best way to figure out what faucet stem to buy? It won't cmshut the water off now and I think the seat is worn out too because I can access the back of these pipes via crawl space and I can see a little bit of water dripping down the side of the tub where the hot water pipe and stem are located. The house was built in the 40s and I am the second owner. The copper pipe leading to the stem looks newer. I attached the best picture I could get of the stem.

r/Plumbing on Reddit: How can I identify a replacement for these faucet stems?
January 7, 2024 -

Very old bathtubbset up - possibly original from the 50's.

These valve stems do not work. They're essentially frozen. I'd like to replace them but none of the box stores has anything similar.

My next thought was to physically take it to a plumbing supply shop. I won't be able to until my next day off a few weeks out.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction to identify and possibly find a replacement online?

March 17, 2023 - Have an old American Standard sink that leaks from the faucets. When I removed the faucets the washers on both were extremely worn out and need replacing. So worn out, in fact, I can't exactly tell the sizing so I'm starting with identifying the stem itself.
