Thank you Bill, chad and Happie_97 for your answers. I am the printer, I switched to InDesign a while back. At the time I did it the quick and dirty way because I couldn't get the bleed to come across when I placed it and did not have time then to figure out what I was missing. · I now have a nice template set up for both the single card and the 10 up page. Now to create a quick macro that places the single card where it belongs and the performs the step and repeat, and I will be a happy camper. · I Appreciate your help. · Charlie

Hello, I'm basically new to editing business card in PS.
Recently,i've downloaded a business card template and inside the file, the layer 'bleed' is there. I know the bleed layer is for printing purposes or some sort. But, do i need to make the layer visible before i save the file to JPEG or the layer is just for guidance? Because if i do, there is a black border in the final result.

Business cards are 3.5"x2" To make a business card with bleed your final file should be 3.75"x2.25" To be SAFE that nothing is cut off, make sure that any text or important graphics are at least .125" (1/8th inch) inside of the 3.5x2 box. So your live area is 3.25"x1.75" anything inside of those dimensions should be safe from the cutter. The closer you get to that outer edge the more likely you are to give your printer a headache, or to have text that is RIGHT on the edge of the card (which looks bad) EDIT: Do not make the black border visible, that is just there to show you what will be cut off. Your text looks a liiiittle bit close on the left side, but should be fine. Source: I've worked in printing for 8 years.

The bleed is the area being cut off. Nothing important should be in the bleed area. You seem fine.
