This show is such a poorly written crapfest. I couldn't get past the first episode and some beginning bits of the second episode. The writing of all the female characters is so unbelievably bad that I couldn't keep subjecting myself to that mental anguish. The whole plot line with the vicar and the math teacher makes no sense whatsoever and feels extremely forced. The math teacher was so hellbent on preemptively ruining a child’s life that she wouldn't stop for a second to reason with herself: ‘hmm why did this child just act like there was nothing wrong with me finding his child abuse porn?’ Child abuse shouldn’t be taken lightly and is entirely horrifying in every way but wouldn’t you want to be 100% sure before accusing anyone of such a heinous crime? This poor vicar is just trying to prevent his son from dangerous, life-ruining accusations that could scar him his whole life. The Vicar didn’t do himself any favors though either by acting equally as hysterical as the math teacher. (I hate to use the term hysterical but it’s warranted in this case.) This dummy’s best solution was to lock this deranged woman in his basement???? Then her disturbingly unstable response was to break all the tools in his basement, cut herself to bleed (and piss) all over the place, then brazenly antagonizes her captor by telling him that his only option is to kill her but also that he won't get away with it when he does. For a second I started rooting for the Vicar’s wife for being the only one with her head on straight until this dingus GOOGLES how to murder/kill someone. This is supposed to be set in 2022, right? Why does no one think that the police can't/won't search computers? In fact, this whole mess could've been solved with: “Officer, one of the members of my church/congregation gave me this flash drive that my son’s math teacher found. This is way out of my scope as a religious leader and this person needs mental help, that I cannot provide, to protect those around him. Here's his information and the flash drive that he gave me.“ They go get a warrant, search computers, match everything up, and the right person gets caught. Boom, done, no one else needs to get hurt or die. I'm just so disappointed in Steven Moffat’s writing. His Doctor Who episodes are my all-time favorites. I tried so hard to like or even just tolerate this show because it is written by him but it's just irredeemable. More on reddit.com
