I do like Eclipse Hibernate plugin better than IntelliJ, but they both do the same things, just that Eclipse's Hibernate plugin is a little easier to configure. As the title implies I am trying to code an app and am looking for something like IntelliJ to code it with unfortunately every single one that I find requires that I have a license to use it and I would like to find one that does not require me to pay up front. I am fine paying a percentage of the profit that I make from the app but I simply do not have enough money at the moment to pay a set amount so if you could tell me about something like this then I would massively appreciate it thank you in advance.(also if you could tell me the technical term for something like IntelliJ then that would also be greatly appreciated thank you).

The term you are looking for “Something like Intellij“ is IDE (Integrated Development Environment). IntelliJ has a Community Version which you can use free of charge but of course there are features missing. Other IDEs that are free are Eclipse, Netbeans, VSCode

What I'll say, as an ultimate pack subscriber, is that the community edition is a quality ide with almost every feature one may conceivably want built in or just a plugin away. But, if you're like me, and spend most of your work day in an ide, I'm more than willing to spend a bit of money for the rest of the features / other tailor made ides / to support development of the tool I use every day. That said many of my coworkers use vs code. If you look at the comparison chart and think it's worth it go for the ultimate edition.

I had to switch to an Ultimate edition recently, because I started to work with Spring, as it is more convenient .So to answer your question, it really depends on your needs, but the main selling point of the ultimate edition for me are plugins and Spring support.

Add a server configuration to my project and publish and restart the changes to my server which I found to be quite quick than starting tomcat from the console through the startup scripts. I completely agree it is too much to expect from the community edition, but what I would suggest is IntelliJ to have some kind of micro payment concept similiar to the myeclipse plugin for a lesser amount.
