LastPass Free has a limit of one device type (mobile or computer). However, you can still install the app on your mobile device, and install the browser extension on your computer/laptop. This way, you can still access and modify your password vault on both device types, for free.

I am just posting this because LastPass got a lot of negative reviews when they introduced their one-device-type limit. I think most people just want to access and modify their passwords on PC and mobile devices, which can still be done with the free version. The only limitation is you can't install the app on multiple device types. I was concerned when I heard about the change, but then I noticed zero changes since I was not using the desktop app anyway.

I blame LastPass for not making this clear and the subsequent bad reviews. I can't find a clear indication on their website that you can basically still use LastPass for free on mobile and desktop.

Am I wrong about this? Is my LastPass account just glitched, allowing me free access to premium features?

LastPass is still free, however, you have to choose if you want to use it on your cell phone or your computer. Yes, it's a bummer because you have to look up the passwords on your phone now when you need it on your computer and it's an inconvenience. I chose my cell phone because I have it with me all the time. If you want it on all your devices, you have to pay for premium

It works flawlessly and will auto fill on both windows and iOS. I used Dashlane for a long time but more times than not, it would not catch a new updated password even though it said it did. So I was locked out of a regularly used app… not good. The neat thing about this one besides being a fair price is that it comes free with a subscription to Webroot AV.

Chrome Users: Please note that LastPass has problems in iOS/iPadOS and as of 13.3.1, the fault is still present. All is not lost however as LastPass in the below example is tested and known to work correctly with Firefox as of iOS/iPadOS 13.3.1.

iOS/iPadOS Settings

  1. Open Settings
  2. Choose Passwords & Accounts
  3. Select AutoFill Passwords
  4. Check the box next to LastPass
  5. Uncheck the box next to iCloud Keychain.

LastPass App

Before you can access any passwords, you must have the LasstPass app installed on your iPhone/iPad and be logged-into the App with your LastPass Master Password

Web Browser

Although this example uses Firefox, the process is almost the same for Chrome users.

Step 1

  1. Select the password field.
  2. Open the share dialog by tapping on the 3 dots (Chrome users tap the share icon).
  3. Choose "Share Page With..." I did say the process was counter-intuitive...

Step 2

Tap LastPass

Step 3

Tap the password offered in the LastPass dialog.

That's it.

Conclusion

Although not a very intuitive process, using LastPass with a browser on iOS/iPadOS it's still pretty easy to use.
