This case was entirely black, and I wanted the durability of the case but also for it to be more colorful. Before decorating it, I put my iPhone 11 Pro into the case to ensure it fits (and it did). I used POSCA paint markers to make the rainbow look on the rubber case, and then sealed the acrylic paint using an acrylic matte spray fixative. I sprayed about 5 or 6 layers of the fixative outside and left the case out to dry in between sprays. This process was done over a span of 4 weeks.
Fast forward a month after the final layer of spray fixative settled (to let the strong smell dissipate before putting my phone in it), I just tried to put my phone into the new case… and it now is too large for it. Online research leads me to believe that the case may have stretched out over time while I was decorating it because I was leaving it outside in the warmth (but I never let it sit under direct sunlight). I imagine that Otterbox’s lifetime warranty will not cover a phone case that has been painted on, so now I’m curious if someone has a suggestion for how this phone case could be brought back to its original size while it has acrylic paint on the majority of the backside?

I thought about getting a clear case when I got the phone but I didn’t want to risk something happening to my phone that was brand new so I just figured spend the $40 for something that I know is gonna work. I do like how the clear cases look better though, but I also work in construction and I don’t usually have my phone on me at work but still rather be safe then sorry.

So this is probably an unpopular decision but why not get the Apple care then do whatever you want? If you like the thin case or no case at all you could just get the Apple care and if something happens you go from there. It’s funny to me how Apple makes these phones look so fancy and in different colors when most people don’t even see the phone or know what color they have cause it’s in a case 24/7. I have always used the Apple silicone case on my phone and it’s been fine but I am very careful and can count on one hand the number of times I’ve dropped my iPhone 7 since I got a long time ago. Maybe compare the cost of Apple care plus a claim vs case and screen protector and whatever else. I’m genuinely curious to know

Hello, thanks for clicking... I do heavy duty construction work for a living and just purchased the 11 Pro. I don’t want it to end up like my last iPhone, destroyed... lol
I’m hoping to get input on the best crash proof case available and info on top screen protectors. Any information will help.
I’m currently looking at the “OtterBox defender series pro screenless edition” and the “Belkin ScreenForce TemperedCurve Screen Protector”

I use the Otterbox Symmetry case. Not bulky and offers good protection. Definitely get a glass screen protector. I also have the Apple Leather case but I feel it wouldn’t provide any real protection other than looking good.

April 9, 2008 - I rarely take the phone out unless I'm switching to my other defender case. The phone stays nice and snug-doesn't move around in the case. The case undoubtedly adds a little bulk, BUT, it doesn't bother me. I'd rather have a little added bulk with the peace of mind that my phone is very well protected and still functional through the case. IMHO it's the best case out there for top notch protection.
