Accessories don't seem the matter as there are magnets around the charging coil in the phone. The wireless charger worked great with my iPhone XS Max, but after upgrading to the 12, I get the same error message. I have other Qi chargers that are doing the same thing. Not a big issue for me as I usually plug in for carplay so it charges by wire anyway.
