Depends on how much work you want to put in. Shooting with RAW instead of JPEG or HEIF can give you the absolute best photo quality without a doubt! ..... if you know how to edit photos that is. Because that is a requirement when using RAW. If you just want to point-n-shoot without any editing, you're much more limited. Either just take photos the way you normally do, and deal with the way your phone automatically applies processing (boosting saturation, applying sharpening, "HDR" effects.etc). Shooting "bursts" will apply slightly less of that processing, which is preferable for some. Or. If you want realistic "true to life" looking photos, but still without the need to edit them. 13 pro max user here. Have used a lot of phones with the 13 pro max being the current one. You can also check out my profile for more photos I took. Some tips I can give you for better results are: (They don't apply only to the 13 pro max) Avoid shooting with lighting behind the subject. Avoid taking photos when light is too strong or when sun is right above your head, it will create unflattering shadows. You can shoot whenever you want on cloudy/overcast days though. The clouds act like a soft box so your photos look better. Try stepping back and shooting with the 3x lens when shooting portraits of people. The 77mm equivalent is less distorting when it comes to human proportions and therefore you'll have a more professional photo. (my latest photos were taken like this) Don't overcrowd your photos. Find something that leads the eye, be it a subject or an inanimate object. Don't over process photos if you choose to edit them. Less is more here. You can also dm me for more details if you want 👏

I recently moved to iPhone. Based on my experience it is all about the right settings such as exposure, lens(.5x 1x, and 3x), and Grid(for placing the subject on the right side of the viewfinder). Phone produces great pics on proper lighting conditions(that’s why I realized). Also, editing plays a vital role in the look and feel of your photos. That 3×3 grid that appears on the camera screen? That’s there to assist with composition. Align the subject of your photos with the lines or intersection points. (e.g. Position someone’s face at one of the grid intersection points.) Look up “rule of thirds composition” for more insight on this technique. Be aware of lighting position. Don’t backlight your subject, but also don’t have people looking directly at the sun, unless you want a lot of photos of people squinting. Try to take photos of people in indirect light if you can, so you don’t get harsh shadows.

Tap to focus, tap to lock exposure settings, lock exposure at a different area, and move camera towards, your subject, etc. Use portrait mode, use grid lines to line up your framing, etc. Take several photos with slightly different settings Using an iPhone is really no different from using a good old film based SLR; your end result is a blend of composition and aperture, exposure time, ISO (sensitivity of film), etc. The big difference is that you can experiment and take hundreds or thousands of photos w/o any cost and pick out the best ones.

Do this: Point the camera at the scene/subject. Look at it, especially around the edges. Is there lots of extraneous, distraction there? If so, zoom in some. Take one shot as is. Touch the screen in a darker area of the image so that the light metering box reads the light there. Take that shot. Touch in a lighter area and take that shot. Review the three and choose your favorite. Choose Edit Choose the … option and duplicate the pic to save an original. At the bottom it offers many options. Slide them across to see what each does. Editing is a huge key. But don’t over-edit unless you like that look. At the very bottom you can choose to tint or crop the image. Save your recited version. This is a good start.
