Yes. First, it's called a Power Adapter, not a Charger. It doesn't push power into the iPhone. It supplies power. All iPhones have the charger built-in, and this charger draws power from the power adapter. Power supplies are just there to supply whatever power is drawn from it by the iPhone's charger, and the charger (which is inside the iPhone) is designed to be able to draw a maximum of 20-something watts. So if you have a 35W power adapter, then it means your iPhone will be able to draw the maximum amount of power that it's capable of since the power adapter is capable of supplying up to 35W. It doesn't mean your iPhone will be forced to charge with 35W. It means it can charge with as much power as it's capable of charging with, in this case no more than 20-something (I apologize but I don't know the exact amount - like I think the iPhone 15 Pro can go as high as 27W). So yes, it's safe to use a power adapter that can supply far more than the iPhone can draw from it. This is what you want so that you can get the fastest charging speed that the iPhone is capable of. If you used a 20W power adapter, then your iPhone would be limited to an absolute maximum of 20W. Answer from TwoCables_from_OCN on reddit.com

r/iphone15 on Reddit: Can i use a 35 watt charger for my iPhone 15?
July 3, 2024 -

I recently bought a second hand iphone, didn’t receive the official charging cable and neither a power brick. So i went to a local shop to get one, they handed me a 35 watt third party charging set from a random Chinese brand. After buying it, only then did i realize that iPhone supports only up to 20 watts of charging .will using this charger affect my battery health in the long run?

r/iphone on Reddit: I Tested iPhone 15 Pro Max Fast Charging with Different Power Bricks, but this time i did it properly!! Which brick gives the most power and which is the most efficient ?
October 15, 2023 -

Hey everyone,

About 12 days ago, I set out on a mission to find out which charger among my collection was giving my iPhone 15 Pro Max the most power. What I didn't realize at the time was that measuring the power the brick draws from the wall is just one piece of the puzzle ( thank you u/janxb) . The real revelation is in how much power is delivered to the phone itself. Today, after finally getting my hands on a USB C multifunction tester, I'm ready to share the results with you.

I created some rankings for both power delivered to phone and brick efficiency.

You may remember this picture from the initial test, these are the bricks that i tested and how much they draw from the wall.

Bricks ranked by power delivered to phone:

1) Ugreen CD224 65W charger25.737 W
2) Apple Brick 96W (2019)25.031W
3) Apple Brick M2 MAX24.514 W
4) Samsung EP-TA80023.163 W
5) Apple 20W charger19.09 W
6) Apple 18W charger17.113 W

Bricks ranked by power efficiency:

1) Apple Brick 96W (2019)89 %
2) Apple 18W charger88.2 %
3) Samsung EP-TA80086.1 %
4) Apple 20W charger81.9 %
5) Ugreen CD224 65W charger81.8 %
6) Apple Brick M2 MAX79.5 %

The individual charger measuring are here:

  1. Ugreen CD224 65W charger

wall draw - 31.4-31.7 W

delivered to phone - 25.686-25.737 W

Charger efficiency - 81.8 %

Wattage lost - 5.7W

2) Apple Brick 96W (2019)

wall draw - 28.1 W

delivered to phone - 25.031W

Charger efficiency - 89 %

Wattage lost - 3W

3) Apple Brick M2 MAX

wall draw - 30.8 W

delivered to phone - 24.514 W

Charger efficiency - 79.5 %

Wattage lost - 6.2 W

4) Samsung EP-TA800

wall draw - 26.9 W

delivered to phone - 23.163

Charger efficiency - 86.1 %

Wattage lost - 3.7W

5) Apple 20W charger

wall draw - 23.3 W

delivered to phone - 19.09 W

Charger efficiency - 81.9 %

Wattage lost - 4.2W

6) Apple 18W charger

wall draw - 19.4 W

delivered to phone - 17.113 W

Charger efficiency - 88.2 %

Wattage lost - 2.28 W

In conclusion, these results might change the way you think about charger performance. Not only does it matter how much power a charger draws, but also how efficiently it delivers that power to your device. It's a win-win situation if you find a charger that delivers a lot of power with high efficiency.

Feel free to ask if you have any questions or need more details on this charger efficiency test. Thanks for reading!

For me i'll stick charging with the Ugreen charger since all i care at some days is getting my phone charged as quickly as possible.
