I had an extremely easy time doing an on-line trade-in on the costco site. Costco sent me directly to ATT to fulfill the order in my account, on an att site with a small costco logo on top right of screen. all the promos and trade-in values were clearly noted on my check-out and shipping is scheduled soon. after researching Apple , Best Buy (free Apple Care+), ATT, it seemed like Costco had the best deal. In addition to the $1000 trade-in deal, I received a waived activation, $100 costco card and $50 in additional bill credits. Gosh, I hope it's true and ATT doesn't put me thru the billing ringer!
I usually buy my phones straight from Apple store but it seems like ATT has good prices with Costco. The website is showing $5.99 a month for 36 months which comes out to $216. While getting it from the Apple store will cost $599.
I am planning to keep the same plan, is there anything I need to worry about ? Why is it cheaper to buy through att monthly payments ?
Im planning to purchase it through Costco.com 's ATT website.

I bought an iphone 16 via the tmobile desk at Costco like a month ago. They gave me a sheet of paper with a QR code and some instructions on how to redeem "up to $150 costco shop card" (I think it's supposed to be exactly $100). I already did that but still haven't received the card. THe last notice I got was they're "verifying my eligibility." Starting to think this was a bait and switch situation....
I use Google FI as a carrier so I just want the phone. I know that I can't do this online, but can I buy an unlocked phone in the store? Thanks!
Basically.
If I buy two new iPhones and keep my current cell plan I end up dropping $3,578 over the course of three years. And that doesn't even assume that I'll get the iPhones for even cheaper on Black Friday and re-up my cell plan to cut the monthly rate... which I will in a few months.
If I go with this Costco "deal", I end up dropping $4,772 over the course of three years and get locked into a three-year contract
So, is this a scam? Or did I miss something?
Does anyone know when Costco will start selling the unlocked 16 Pro? Thanks!
I wondered if there is a difference between purchasing online vs purchasing in store regarding the return time frame and conditions for electronics due to manufacturing issues?
My SIL had issues when her Garmin watch broke within 2 weeks - legit, she spoke with Garmin - and it was a huge hassle involving online customer service AND the in store customer service desk.
The phones sell out incredibly quickly online and I haven't been able to get one in store.
Like title says, me and my family just migrated to the US here in Dallas, we used prepaid t mobile ever since we arrived and will be switching to postpaid soon after our socials and green card arrives to mail. Been looking at carrier deals everywhere and found this "too good to be true" kind of deal, we do have a costco membership so it just only makes more sense to go for this deal, any thoughts? Do I wait for the 17s to release or just go for the 16s.
Hi! We’re planning on going to our local Costco in a few hours to preorder/trade in our son’s iPhone 12 with our Magenta 1.0 plan and had a few questions.
-
Do we need to take his phone with us there?
-
Does it have to be the same Costco we pre order at that we pick up at? We’ll be near a different location later from our usual one.
-
Can we trade the phone in after we get our new phone at a T-Mobile so our son can transfer the data?
-
Is the upgrade fee waived and do we get a Costco cash card?
Thanks!

Yes 2. It gets shipped to your home. 3. You have 30 days to ship your old phone back you don’t trade it in today. 4. Yes
1 - Yes, the TMO rep sent a code to validate our phones, and visually inspected them to ensure they'd qualify for trade. You might be able to get by with the IMEI but I don't know
2 - phones are shipped to your home not picked up
3 - you have 30 days to trade your phone and can do so at a t-mobile corporate store
4 - yes and yes - takes 100+ days on the cash card due to Costco 90 day return policy
tl;dr: if you did the Costco promo, check your bill and make sure you see the activation fee waived and the $50 ($5/month) promo added. Call ATT if you don't.
Just got my first bill after purchasing 3 iPhone 16s for my lines through Costco website. The activation fee was STILL there - had to call and ask them to remove it. They couldn't find the exact details so the associate did a courtesy removal of the $35/line activation fee. YMMV.
The $50 promo, increments of $5 off for 10 months was there. Still waiting on the Costco Shop Cards for $100, which is to be received after 60 days so still awhile left. So double-check your bills. For those who don't know about this, the promo ended 10/10/24 and you must purchase in-store or through the online portal that leads to ATT.
The ATT associate (who was very helpful and courteous) also mentioned that next time I'm at Costco, to ask the ATT rep there to add my Costco ID to the account (**shrug**). The first time I messaged ATT to find out about where my shop cards are, they gave me so much push back saying that the promotion only starts in November? I eventually ended the chat so I would recommend calling** and talking with someone. But yeah, wanted to share the details with you all.
** Per u/puzzleheadedneck4476 recommendation, call the Costco/ATT line here: 866-595-2661
I’m looking to buy the new iPhone 16 but I’m pretty sure the phone kiosks went away. Is this something I could buy at a standard Costco? I called my local Costco and they said the iPhone 16 is not available yet and they didn’t know if they would sell it.
I'm on magenta max and spoke to T-Mobile chat about buying 2 iPhone 17 pro Max (1 new line and 1 existing line), they said I need to upgrade to experience plus to get 830$ off with trade in deal.
Walked into Costco and the rep said I don't have to upgrade as I can get BOGO line offer. I will be getting 830$ off on both iPhones since I'm adding 2 lines (I'll only be paying for 1). The iPhones can be activated on any lines in the plan and I don't have to activate the iPhone on the newly added lines.
In conclusion I'm only paying for 1 additional magenta max line (28$ with insidr discount) and getting 830$ on 2 iPhones. It would've been costly if I listened to T-Mobile chat and upgraded all lines to experience plus. Also no activation fees at Costco and 150$ worth of shop card.
Does anyone know if the sale - $900 for an iPhone 15 128 GB is still going on?
We went to Costco last weekend and signed up for the iPhone 16 trade in deal. We both have 12 Pros in great condition, and both the sales guy and the website promised we’d get the maximum value of $1,000. Sweet. It took a few days for the phones to arrive. We were supposed to get the trade-in kits at the same time, but by this morning my wife decided she’d just go to the ATT store and turn them in. Well surprise surprise surprise. They told her $350. Their website still said $1,000 for the 12 Pro, but she could offer no explanation other than that’s what her system offered. Even though the Costco ATT rep had literally given us a checklist (no scratches, fully functional, etc) appraising our 12s at $1,000And take it or leave it. We could accept the $350 trade-in value and redo our payments on the new 16s (the payments were set up with the full $1,000 value applied), pay for them in full and keep our 12s, or turn in the 16s and pay a restocking fee plus an activation fee to turn the old ones back on. My wife never cusses in public, but she cussed in public. Anyone else? Any advice? Any way to escalate? Could Costco help? Ugh. Why did we expect anything but headache?
I’m getting two new iPhone 16s and trading in two iPhone 12s. I’m on T-Mobile One so I’m going to get $500 off for each order. Which is the best way to order the new phones, T-Mobile, Apple or Costco? I’ve typically done T-Mobile but not sure that’s the best method.
First, I don’t care about delivery speed. That’s not very important. I care about cost and unlock ability in that order. From what I’ve found it seems like T-Mobile is the worst option as they charge $830 (instead of $800), they charge a $35 order fee and you can’t unlock the phone for two years which can be a problem if I need to add international service while traveling for an extended period. Apple seems like a better option in that the phone costs only $800, no $35 order fee and the phone is unlocked. But am I right about that? Lastly is Costco the best option? Do they give you the benefits of Apple but with a Costco cash card?
So my questions are will I still get the $500 trade in promo if I order from Apple? Will the phone be unlocked and will I save the $30 on the phone price and the $35 order fee? And for Costco, is it the same terms as Apple but with a Costco cash card?
Compared to apple stores and other resellers, Costco's iPhones are cheaper.I'm planning to get one soon so should I know anything before buying?Do Taiwanese people usually buy iPhones in Costco?
