With the earlier iPhones I seem to remember that all legitimate Apple lightning cables had a small chip inside them to verify they were legit.
Is this the case with the USB-C cables or are they just all standard cables now? (I know there are different grades of USB-C cables)

There isn’t an MFI standard per se, but different usb c cables will have different features. For example what comes with the iPhones is USB C and supports power delivery, but only 2.0 data speeds.

I've recently purchased some new iPhones, and I'm in the market for a quality USB-C cable. I briefly searched the subreddit, and online but there are so many types of requirements, and different options that are just confusing me at this point. Hoping to find a quality USB-C that can do fast data, and charging also versatile for my MacBook Pro, iPhone 16, and other USB-C devices I carry for work. The Amazon basics 40 Gbps, 240w certified cable is great, but only 1m. That’s the limit for passive cables, which is what you want right now. If you want a 20 Gbps (or 10 Gbps, it will be the same data performance) cable, those can be 2M long and be within spec, but you can get 3 meter versions, but the data performance will be less reliable, which doesn’t can mean slower transmission, or random disconnection).
