You might need to warm up the screw head a bit to weaken lock-tite. I'm not sure if they would include that, and I'm not sure how you would go about this, that close to the battery. This will take more research. You could try to put a small circle of paper over the screw head and then use your driver to help take up some of the tolerance. Can you take the other 4 screws out of that bracket with the current bit condition? Don't worry too much about the bit, iFixIt should replace it after you are done if you require another bit. You just have to be able to get it all back together. More on reddit.com

I've never bought parts from iFixit, but I've heard mixed reviews about the quality of their products, and they generally seem overpriced imo. I've not done an X, but I replaced a friend's XR screen with an OLED from etechparts.com about a year ago and she hasn't had any issues with it. If I remember right it was about $50, I would assume an X screen would be similar price. More on reddit.com

If this is your first repair I highly caution against it. I worked on cell phones at a store for a year and I didn't work on any iPhone past the 8. The 8 and X were released the year I was working there, so it's fair that I only ever saw one X while working there, but I still wouldn't trust myself to fix the newer 10 and up phones.

I recently bought an ifixit screen repair kit to finally fix my iPhone XS Max. I’ve gotten to step 16 removing the display however I struggled while removing the 1.5mm screw and I’ve seen to have stripped it. (The Y000 head in the kit isn’t the greatest but I love that it’s magnetized) Is there anyway to keep going or are my fixit dreams dashed before I truly getting into my journey?

I just inherited an iPhone X with a deeply scratched display (I mean at least 1 mm in with and 1 mm in depth) I wanna replace but I don't really feel like shelling out 145$ for a new OLED one. Is the LCD option from iFixit any good? How is it compared to the OLED?

Can’t comment on the iPhone X, but I made the mistake of replacing a damaged display on my XS Max with an iFixit LCD. The colors were extremely washed out. The color quality was worse than my iPhone 6S Plus that I had been using as a backup. What a waste of $200. Should have spent $329 or whatever apple charges. I ended up selling that phone with the iFixit display on eBay and buying a gently used 11 Pro Max instead.

Your tabs are stuck in the phone, you have only lift up setje front of the screen and the metal frame of the screen is still inside the iPhone. You first got to get them out before you can instal your new screen.
