Can I use claude for free

I too use these. However, i've noticed that there are few days where the usage is high and for other days i don't use that much so for me the 20 usd felt high. What i now do is that i've setup openweb-ui on my system and added credits for api on claude and openai. This way i use it whenever i want and pay accordingly. Just for reference, my Claude api credits ran for 3 months even though i recharged for 5 usd only. So, in my case i find it useful. You should check it out and see if it fits your usecase. I know I should not complaint about free tier when even Pro members are getting peanuts but I was a Claude Pro member until today and decided this month I don't have much use for it and to cancel the subscription. Oh boy, I did not know that the situation of the free tier is this bad. All it takes is a single bit long message to hit the limit of chat and 2 to 3 chats to hit the full message limit. It’s almost like in the name of the free tier, Claude is just giving 2 demo messages.

It’s also shady that my initial review apparently disappeared, so hopefully this one doesn’t.So while Claude has some good capabilities and potential, it’s fine to use on the free model but the dishonesty in their marketing makes me incredibly frustrated and feels like a scam, and I never would’ve given them my money had I known beforehand.
