May 9, 2024 -

Ive whittled my mattress hunting down to those two choices, neither are hybrids. Do you really think the Tempur-pedic is worth the extra 800+ dollars for the queen? Seems like such an exorbitant amount of money. I laid on both of them my local mattress firm and they felt so similar.

The salesperson said the tempur will hold up better over time, but I can’t really trust what they say since they work on commission.

Currently looking to buy a new mattress as my current bed in a box has become too soft.

Have tested Tempur-Pedic Adapt Medium and Pro Adapt Medium in numerous stores and love the feel/support.

My only hang-up is the countless reviews I see online stating they will do anything to get out of a warranty and the product sagging or dipping a few years after ownership.

I just don't want to get stuck with a $3200 bed that fails in a few years. Does anyone here have any thoughts, good or bad? If you own one, which model and for how long?

Long term TP owner here. Basically the mattress takes some getting used to (give yourself at least two months, get used to the floaty feel and also the slightly higher body heat retention). Overall, I wouldn’t change it for another mattress. Having run sleep apps, its clear that I barely move all night whilst on a TP leading to much better quality sleep. By contrast, even on very high end sprung mattresses, I end up moving a lot more with greater disrupted sleep. Stories about TP mattresses sagging should be taken with a pinch of salt. Unless you are seriously heavy, I wouldn’t worry about it. I have two TP beds in my house. No sagging at all after 5 and 10 years of use respectively. The only downside I can think of is that the mattresses sleep slightly hotter. This is only noticeable in summer, and the solution is simply to cover yourself with less. In summary: I’d go for it.

I had the same concerns after reading way too many Tempur Pedic reviews; lots of love for the feel, but the sagging and warranty issues definitely gave me pause. I personally ended up going with the Plush Beds botanical bliss after seeing the comparison here https://www.reddit.com/r/Mattress/comments/1h1m2js/comment/mk6u2ux/ . For me personally, PlushBeds seemed like the best choice. It’s all latex, so you should still get that contouring support but with more bounce and durability. Plus, it’s got a great return policy. Still waiting on it to arrive though and I'm excited to try it out!!!

So I have been playing the mattress game for 15 years with my spouse. She has been I want a tempurpedic for all 15 years :) I have been they are a total rip off the whole time also.

We went to Matrress Firm /gag recently just to try some mattresses. She is in love with the Tempurpedic LuxeBreeze which is a redlicilous 5K for a mattress then another 2K for the adjustable base! Which of course they say they will only warranty the mattrress if it uses their base.

Our last mattress was a Satvaa King Relaxed Firm Mattress. That thing has broken down faster than any mattress I have ever owned. We have had it 5 years, but it started breaking down pretty badly after about 2 years. I could file a warranty claim, but I really dont want to be back in the same situation in 2 years. We paid $1499 5 years ago. My spouse is going to drive me up a wall saying she refuses to try that mattress again even if its only $600 or so. Im a 240lb guy, so that prob didnt help with its longevity.

Have I mentioned she s a SUCKER for marketing?

Anwyays, is there any other mattress that we may be able to try in person that may compare? If she cant try it in person, she wont even consider it after her dislike of our Saatva.

Sorry this became a r/marriageadvice post lol.

So hi.. mfrm employee here. You can find memory foam in a lot of places. Nectar, for example., or iComfort by Serta. Plus dozens upon dozens of others. So if you want an alternative foam option it exists. But here's the deal. Over the years a lot of these all foam options say they are as good or comparable to tempur and then they fall flat and, from doing this since 2013, I've seen so many folks say "I'll never buy another one." And yet a lot of em never had one to begin with. I'll never forget the guy who swore up and down to me he had a king tempurpedic and he paid 500 bucks for it.. I just don't see that having ever happened. With that said.. you need to understand temput material is NOT memory foam. It works differently. There is a reason when tsi and mfrm split (this was a few years ago) we had vendors buying tempur products from us. They wanted to pick it apart and try and replicate it. Because everyone wants to make it, but no one has yet (outside of tempur). I personally have never seen a memory foam sensitive enough to pressure/shape/temperature that it can make groves for my finger tips just by gently resting my hand on it. So they have something that no one else has made and they control the price on it. Not the first time someone has done that (see android and iPhone for other examples). As for the warranty.. that's straight from Tempurs mouth. No retailer is suppose to sell their product with a different adjustable base than what is made by tsi. Thems the rules. Now.. if you aren't wanting to spend thousands.. cool - there are options. I personally like beautyrest. Sealy is another good option. Since you were in a matt firm I'd hope maybe you tried one of the pressuresmart lux beds out. That's a decent option for you to stay around 1500ish. You can also scope out the Sealy Satisfied/Oppulence/Exuberance (same bed.. 3 different names for it). They have a higher collection of coils in the middle of the bed, so it has a bit more endurance to the heaviest part of the human body. The problem comes with seeing them in person. A lot of stores carry the same beds. You might mind some private label stuff that varies (sleepys at mfrm, ashley sleep at ashley furniture) but often times they are manufactured by the same company. That company just creates private label stuff for those retailers. I wish you the best of luck trying to find something similar to tempurpedic. I'll admit whenever I have someone like tempur feel but not tempur price, I suggest either the High Point by Sealy or the iSeries bed by serta. In this case either the iseries 4000 or 1000. Let me know if I can shed some extra light

I’ve had back and neck pain my entire life that has greatly affected my sleep. Ive bought mattresses that only provide support for 2-3 years and have to get a new one. I finally gave in and bought a tempur. Pricy but having the best sleep and reduced pain going on 6 years now. I’ll never go back. Quality sleep affects all facets of life and is worth every penny.
