I got them at a discount store for cheap. I would eat them again. The pieces of chocolate were a nice big size I thought. ... Palmers is very low end waxy chocolate that leaves a film in your mouth.

Answer (1 of 5): Because it IS bad. It's made of the cheapest possible ingredients. It's sold to people who don't know any better, or to people who can't afford any better but who want something sweet that feels fancy. It's also formed into novelty shapes for holidays—a toddler won't know or care...

Except it isn't; the box has a false bottom, and if you open the package and remove the chocolate bunny, you'll see that the bunny, ears and all, is actually a bit shorter than the box. Did you notice my mistake? I don't feel too bad about it since I'd bet thousands of consumers have made it too. December 2, 2024 - Even people who have a nostalgic love for these chocolates admit they're cheap and artificial. The reason for that is that R. M. Palmer's chocolate isn't actually chocolate — at least according to the FDA's definition. In order for a product to qualify as sweet chocolate, it needs to contain a minimum of 15% cocoa and cocoa butter (together also referred to as chocolate liquor).

December 27, 2011 - I'm definitely a chocolate snob, too! I like See's, and Russel Stover is okay, plus of course the more expensive brands. We have some local brands like Boehm's and Seattle Chocolates which are great. I can eat Hershey bars, but that Palmer's stuff is awful. The worst, though, is old chocolate - like stuff that is obviously about a year old!

I'm curious if anyone actually likes this stuff.
