A story about Jcrew customer service
Jcrew won me over several years ago. I was shopping for a suit for my wedding. I wanted a white or cream-colored linen three-piece suit, and this was several years before they became popular (thus they were tough to find). Jcrew had one that season. But as is often the case, it was sold out. I mentioned that I wanted to get married in it, and they GOT IT DONE. They shipped the jacket, vest, and pants from stores in three different states. The vest and pants were entirely the wrong size. Their solution? They sent me a to a (third party) tailor to break everything down and rebuild the suit in my size. On their dime. I never even saw the bill. This was late in the season, and the suit had already been discounted. On top of the trouble and cost of shipping and altering items already on clearance, they gave me the de rigueur $50 gift card, one for each piece of the suit. After discounts and gift cards, I think I ended up paying all of $100. At one point I asked the lady why they were going to all this trouble for me: "You only get married once, right?" J.Crew has incredible customer service
Yeah, customer service in a lot of retail stores have a "say yes" policy. I have worked for Banana Republic (about 2 years) and J. Crew (only 4 months). The management in both stores told employees to never tell a customer "no". It was more strict at BR. We often returned ripped pairs of pants from 4 years ago for a full refund in store credit if they had the receipt, even though it was against every part of the return policy. Once I returned a tie from 2005 (this was this year), and the customer had no receipt or anything. We just issued them store credit. And customers were never very grateful, they usually came in pissed thinking that their attitude would help them get their way, when little did they know we have to say yes no matter how angry they pretend to be. I guess my point to this mini rant is: thank you for noticing good customer service and not taking advantage of a very abuse-able system that many retail stores have in place. More on reddit.com

I recently had ordered a fair isle sweater from Jcrew Factory about a week back after hearing about it on fmf. The expected ship date was in October, and I had realized I no longer wanted the sweater. So I called Jcrew and emailed them saying to cancel my order a week ago. Fast forward to today and I check my bank account, and it shows that there is an authorization for the purchase amount of $50.17. I call Jcrew up and the lady I spoke to informed me that the man I spoke with a week earlier actually had forgotten or neglected to cancel my order and that the order was shipped. After apologizing she offered to send me a $50 Jcrew/Jcrew factory giftcard for the inconvenience. On top of that, she said they will waive the return fee if I do decide to return the sweater. After apologizing about ten more times for a mistake not even on her part, the conversation ended. This is not the first time these folks have impressed me with just how far they will go to please customers. Jcrew has a life long customer in me. Just thought I'd share this.

Yup. They are awesome. I got a peacoat for around 100. Wasnt sure on the sz so I asked was there a limit on exchanges, they said nope. But then I thought maybe I should buy a M so that way I can try them both at the same time. She allowed me to get the medium for the same price and waive the shipping fee. The sale was already over but they still gave me the price. Just told me to return whichever one that didn't fit
