I have the option to buy the Evolve2 65 Flex (new) or the Evolve2 75 (used) for about the same price...I have read that the Evolve2 75 seems to be less durable over time, especially the mic boom and that the Evolve2 65 Flex has a better mic....however, the Evolve2 75 is newer and has a better form factor for me....just want to see what user's experiences have been with the Evolve2 75 over time and whether there are any long term issues I need to consider
pls help , when i try to use the mic the quality of sound lowers to mono sonud and low resolution, tryed to play cs2 and when i use microphone the sound goes poor, does anyone have a solution?
Last week, I bought the Evolve2 75, as a replacement for my trusty Evolve 75.
So far, quite satisfied with the headphones in comparison to the older model. A more modern look, better audio, better noise cancelation, better battery life. A worthy upgrade.
A few complaints though:
-
they rotate "the wrong way" - because of the mic, when resting on your neck, the speakers point outwards (thus facing the elements), not inwards
-
voice prompts (mute off, noise cancellation on, etc) can be heard on the other end of the call (really faintly, but discernable)
-
suspectible to wind noise with mic extended - It is enough to take a bit of a brisk walk inside the office to hear the wind blowing around the mic
-
max volume when connected to a phone is lower than ideal - this might be an issue with my oneplus 8 pro phone, did not have the same challenge with the regular Evolve 75 though
-
sidetone performance seems a bit inconsistent. For some reason the sidetone level fluctuates during a call, turning the head a bit is enough for it to get louder or quieter. Also, the max sidetone level is a lot quieter than on the 1st gen.
-
the included soft carrying case is a far cry in comparison to the hard case OG came with.
Do not take me wrong, in my view, these are the best headphones for hybrid work. But, as everything, they are not perfect.
I will update the post if I notice more things that can be helpful to somebody thinking about buying these.
Update 1: I am getting complaints from my colleagues that the mic level fluctuates during the calls. I was not able to identify the culprit. I will reach out to Jabra support.
Update 2: Jabra support recommended some changes to teams device settings - turning off background noise cancellation & turning off automatic mic noise sensitivity adjustment. Did this, but colleagues still complain about how I sound and they claim that the OG Evolve 75 sounded much better and more natural. Unfortunately I am outside of the period when I could return the headphones, so I hope that either mine are broken and this will be resolved under warranty, or some firmware update will fix this.
Update 3: I will try to pursue returning this and getting money back from the seller. I do not believe issues like voice prompts that can be heard on the other side of the call can be resolved by an firmware update. I will return to the OG 75s.
Update 4: I returned the headphones, got my money back without any issues. I will be happy to revisit them in the case firmware updates improve their performance in above mentioned areas, for now the OG 75's and 75e's are a combo that suits my needs.
