If you have Netflix’ DVD service, they have a bunch of great and difficult to find j-horror movies on disk. As for streaming, Netflix is a better source for k-horror than j-horror. You could watch the Ju-On: Origins series, but unless you’ve seen the first 4 Ju-On movies, a lot of what is interesting about the series will be lost on you. Girl From Nowhere is a Thai series on Netflix, but it is extremely close to just being a show about Tomie if that interests you. The show Erased on Netflix is more a mystery thriller, but with horror elements, and you can watch the live action or animated version (they are very similar, neither is particularly better than the other). It’s a good show. Homunculus, a recent Takashi Shimizu movie, is on Netflix. It’s an adaptation of a manga. It’s okay, though a far cry from his best work. In short, Netflix is weird when it comes to j-horror. They have several hard to find DVDs, but if your plan only includes streaming then Netflix doesn’t really help much with j-horror. Tubi is probably more what you’d want to look at. It’s free and streams a number of classic j-horrors.
