Assume cabinets are 25" deep, island is min 42" deep, and aisles are min 40" wide. You will see that an island just doesnt work, the kitchen is too narrow. Can you take down the wall between the kitchen and the front door? More on reddit.com

I would strongly recommend getting the island with that size space. The extra storage space / space for appliances is great and it’s a big help when prepping and serving big meals especially on holidays. You could probably adjust the size and placement but i don’t think it’s so far off. Personally I’m not a fan of seating on an island especially in open concept kitchens, unless of course your family is accustomed to using it as a table regularly and you don’t want to mess with that. Another observation…the upper cabinets are too short. Consider 18-20” backsplash, 40in cabinets and a crown molding. Also that corner cabinet going all the way down to the counter is giving me anxiety please don’t do that 😅 Good luck with your reno! More on reddit.com

Put an appliance garage in the far right, like we did. That way you can hide ugly appliances. Plus i like the look of the cabinet sitting on the counter. Also, i think green lowers and white uppers wont age well. Consider doing one color for perimeter, and a second color for the island (this may just be personal opinion though) More on reddit.com

Hi, I'm hoping for some general advice on kitchen layout. We are in early conversations with a cabinet builder, but before we meet he wants to know a lot of specifics that I'm struggling to visualize. This is a complete change of kitchen layout and location, so there aren't really constraints on where most things go. Even the windows could change.
I included dimensions of the space, a to-scale-ish possible layout, and an approximate visualization of the layout using IKEA's online tool. The island on that mock-up is too large, just FYI.
I'm debating whether it's worth having the island at all. We'd like to have the dishwasher in it and have the storage/worktop/seating, but with 42" or higher clearance around it our options are not for anything very large (about 5' wide by 4' deep), and I'm still worried it will cause flow issues.
We love having a wall oven so we aren't looking at options that would take the out of the equation, but open to suggestions anyway!
I've realized I think very rigidly about this stuff and struggle to play around with layout. Hoping to find a kitchen layout that's just fine, nothing is 100%, but I just don't want to hate it or realize we made a really non functional decision that we have to live with every day.

definitely island lose the corner appliance garage and go with a square corner cab. you can’t reach the back of the one shown.

Notes:
The island, as shown here, is not complete. There will be a 12-15" overhang with 3 stools facing the range wall. Overhang will be wide enough to allow island to center to sink window, as there will be 2 pendant lights on island and 1 over sink (all must line up). So finished island countertop size will be around 8' long x 3' wide.
About 38" of circulation space between island and cabinets.
Range hood will be custom built of wood/plaster to fill space above range.
2-tone color (sage green for base, white for pantry/uppers).
Microwave cabinet in island.
Trash pullout in island.
Large entryway goes to dining room.
Small entryway will be arched and go to mudroom/back entrance.

If you have room for 42" between the fridge and island, you should do it. Island vs. fridge traffic is annoying.
