Just set the fan curve in LACT and that will run at start up anyway. You dont neeed the app to start up. Answer from 90124 on reddit.com

April 25, 2026 - Updated charts window! The charts are now fully configurable. You can set which stats to show on the charts, add/remove charts and drag them around. You can also add new stats which are not shown by default on the graphs, such as GPU voltage, GPU load percentage or VRAM usage. It is also now possible to export the historical data to a CSV file. LACT is now available as a Flatpak package. For now, .flatpak bundles are provided on GitHub releases.

LACT 0.8.0 released (overclocking AMD+Nvidia cards, fan profiles, monitoring, etc.)
LACT is AWESOME. Believe it or not, it works better than Adrenalin, which has been a pain in the * for me because it resets very often for the silliest reasons More on reddit.com

New stuff:

  • More advanced profile management

  • Process monitor

  • More Nvidia metrics

  • Power profiles daemon integration

...and more (see full changelog via the above link)

__________

For people trying to overclock/undervolt their cards while also being able to set up fan profiles, there's no better software in my eyes. And it's also very lean.

Note: Undervolting your Nvidia card has to take the indirect route (=shifting the freq curve) as no direct voltage control is exposed via the Nvidia drivers.

r/linux_gaming on Reddit: LACT v0.9.0 is out - now offering (unofficial) undervolting support for Nvidia!
April 25, 2026 -

Release: https://github.com/ilya-zlobintsev/LACT/releases

Changes (among other stuff):

  • UI Update

  • Nvidia Voltage-Frequency Curve Editor

  • Nvidia target temperature setting

  • AMD Hardware blocks information reporting (#942)

  • Better Flatpak service reliability (#902 and a few others)

I just read the announcement and haven't tried the new features yet. As always, I'm amazed what the author(s) have pulled off though. The previously impossible undervolting for Nvidia being an impressive feature in itself.

Since this concerns running your hardware out of spec, be aware that instability and/or damage are possible! Use it at your own risk.

Feel free to report back how it works out for you. :-)

For people wondering how one could achieve undervolting for Nvidia on Linux before: One went indirectly with setting a higher GPU boost offset (which moves the voltage curve) and then limiting the max allowed frequency or power limit. In short: Frequencies were then hit with a lower voltage than default. Details here: https://github.com/NVIDIA/open-gpu-kernel-modules/discussions/236#discussioncomment-3553564

Yes! This hack to have the nvapi setter for actual 127 voltage-frequency points finally working on Linux is great. If you want to do all this trail and error of undervolting automatically, you can check my small single commad CLI tool. I've made it intially just to import Afterburner undervolt profiles into Linux, but by popular demand here, it now can auto scan for most optimal undervolts. https://github.com/jpietek/PenguinBurner It will sweep down the voltage frequency curve aiming for highest FPS per wat possible. Uses shareware Q2RTX maxed pathtraced demo (offscreen) looped without FPS cap for stability and efficiency testing. Additionally I've added small CUDA compute program for verification. If you are happy with the scan results you can later daemonize it and also add as a systemd service to persist on every boot. You also have an option to apply the auto generated silent fan curve at this stage if there is some thermal headroom after the undervolt. It would be great if you could post your results here or file any github issues if it does not work for your card. For my FE 5080 the discovered undervolt did degrade performance by a few percent but FPS/Watt went up by whooping +36% percent, even better compared to manually tuned curve some time ago on Windows with Afterburner.
