Setting up LACT on OpenSUSE tumbleweed
I would like to run LACT to limit my laptop GPU frequency, and thus let it stay cooler. ▶ Terminal logs I tried both the zypper package and the Flathub package. I am curious what is going wrong. I am running Labwc, but I’m not sure that changes much except for maybe different rendering of GUIs. More on forums.opensuse.org

I am trying to setup LACT so it actually finds the daemon. However, the config file I am supposed to edit is absent from /etc. There isn’t even a lact folder. And I cannot find a way to create one safely. If that can help I am using the RPM version. More on forums.opensuse.org

could I get some help with this error? I’m just switching off of bazzite due to the fallout between Antheas and the broader founder group. I’ve got TW otherwise set up but I don’t understand what’s going on with this error. I grabbed the RPM off github, installed with YaST and this message won’t go away despite running the command in konsole

Incredible how no one is really helpful. I bet the deamon is indeed already running but it's a misconfig on the LACT files. Edit this file: sudo nano /etc/lact/config.yaml and edit the lines with the admin_user and admin_group with your user and the admin group you are part of. You can check who your user is with in console: whoami Then write in the console to check who your user is part of. groups [user] Write both results on the config.yaml file and save. Restart lact, and it should be working now.

I have an RX 570 4GB GPU and it has some issues. It sometimes does not use most of what it is capable of on Windows as well as Linux. On Windows, in Radeon app, I could just change one option and it would use all its power from the very beginning of starting a video game. In Linux, it still uses all of its available power to play games but not run it.
Let me explain, Talos Principle 2 is one of my new favorite game and it runs quite well on Windows but not on my OpenSUSE Tumbleweed KDE OS. However, before changing that one option, this game was not even working on Windows. It was crashing a lot. Halo Infinite's load time difference when that option is on or off is immense.
It seems like something is wrong with the way GPU seems to work i.e. GPU is not in maximum performance mode. That option in Windows would change that. I don't know how I can achieve that in Linux. Any overclocking app that I can find on internet is not available in OpenSUSE repos. There must be a way to achieve the same on OpenSUSE without adding additional repositories? Or is there any app to do it?

Hi, This is not a matter of overclocking but of power profiles. Sometimes, the default power profile is too agressive and doesn't give the wanted results which can result in lower FPS/stutters in games. You can change it on the fly and/or create a udev rule to set the wanted one on startup. 3D_FULL_SCREEN and COMPUTE are the most powerful ones.
