I’ve been trying to get a laptop that works for me for years, and nothing has ever worked for me (usually because I haven’t done enough research which is my bad). I finally have a budget of $100, maybe just a little over, and I just need to get a laptop after all these years. Preferably not an HP as I’ve had a terrible experience with them for years, and not a Dell because I’ve seen those run usually as chromebooks. I just need something that runs Steam and Audacity as I’m a voice actress and I’ve had to sit to the side and watch my friends play games without me for years. I know $100 isn’t a very good budget for a gaming/recording computer, but if there’s a chance something will work I’ll take it. Thank you :) Also, it does have to be a laptop as I don’t have a desk or anyplace to set up a whole PC and stuff :( im pretty ignorant when it comes to tech stuff </3

You might need to look for a used laptop on facebook market or a local sale site (craiglist or such) as 100 will not get you a good one. I could not recommend any for that price. My son got a decent cheap one for about 350 and it is not a gaming laptop but just a school laptop.

I’m looking for a good budget laptop for around £100 gbp.
It needs to have a good processor with a decent power budget as I want to be able to do rendering tasks on it.
Ive had an Intel i5 8265u laptop before but the power budget was so low it was outperformed by my old MacBook Pro i5 4278u.

Go online and find a used business laptop wise a dell latitude or lenovo thinkpad. Those fuckers are indestructible and quite good. I got mine from ebay for 40 pounds and it's from 2014. Its powerful enough to play games. Would like to mention a 2 core 4th gen ULV i5 will get nowhere near an 8th gen i5 ULV. you have twice the cores and threads, and are on 14nm.
