Extra Large Sink or Standard with Kitchen Remodel?
You can get a large under mount stainless steel sink (they have really really large workstation sinks if that’s your jam). https://www.creategoodsinks.com has several selections. If you want a fireclay farmhouse sink though, those will be limited to 33” I think because of the sheer weight. More on reddit.com

New kitchen sink recommendations
I would avoid perfectly square corners. They look nice but aren't practical as food and bullshit gets stuck in there More on reddit.com

Kitchen sinks, what are things to look out for?
I don’t know brands per se, but I would tell you to pay very close attention to the style of sink that you get. Something that is popular now like I think they are called apron farm sinks, where the sink pokes out from the countertop in the front and overhangs part of the cabinet, may be popular now but might not be all that popular in a few years. Also there are single bowls and multi bowl thanks, sometimes the separators for those multiple bowls go up to the height of the sink bowl, or sometimes they only go up partway. My wife for example liked the idea of having one of those single bowl type of sinks but when she thought long and hard about it she realized that she uses two separate bowls in the sink one for washing and one for rinsing, so while she like the idea she needed them to be separate. We compromised when she saw that there was a company that made a mid rise two bowl sink for the kitchen and that’s what we went with. Something else to consider is the shape. I would suggest that you try to pick with a somewhat typical sink shape, and not something too unique if it’s going to be under mounted, meaning that it’s underneath the countertop, because that would mean a very special sort of cut out, and trying to match that in the future would be a real challenge. Just my 2 cents. Hope it can help in your decision! More on reddit.com

renovating kitchen - double or single (double wide) sink?
We chose a double wide sink with a single bowl. Here is why: (1) two equal sinks work ok, as long as everything you own fits in one of them... spoiler: lots of things won't fit; cookie sheets, turkey roasters, cake pans, broiler pans -- to wash these you have to prop them up on the edge of the sink and work on half, then rotate it around and do the other half. Heaven help you if it needs to soak, you are out of luck. (2) the big+tiny sink is the dumbest configuration on the planet... what the hell do you actually do with that little ass sink??? I'll tell you what you do with it, jack squat. (3) everything we own (dishes, pans, babies, dogs) fits in that one big ass sink -- everything. On occasion, if we really need a "2 sink" configuration, we have a small plastic wash bin under the sink that fits inside the big sink. (4) one set of drains, one trap, one garbage disposal, less to fail, and leaves more room under the sink The cons: these tend to be more expensive. If you are a big fan of the "wash on this side, rinse on this side" method of dishes, this will be hard for you. We don't do that. We don't fill the sink with water to wash, we use other methods, so it works well for us. More on reddit.com

r/kitchenremodel on Reddit: Extra Large Sink or Standard with Kitchen Remodel?
April 1, 2025 -

We are in the midst of designing our second kitchen remodel however this time we are replacing the cabinets. We have lived in our home for 25 years and do not plan on staying here forever but who knows. We currently have dark laminate counter tops with an extra large, not farmhouse, cast iron sink. We both cook pretty much daily and I am struggling with deciding on the next sink. We are going with quartz counter tops and I feel the undermount sinks look so much better with type of design and it looks like art to me. Placing a large over the counter drop sink in the middle just seems like it will ruin the aesthetics. However when it comes to factuality, we both love having the extra large sink and it is definitely used to the max. Our sink is currently 42" wide. Not sure why our only other option is 33" wide. As much as the smaller undermount sink would probably look better, I'm still leaning towards the larger cast iron. Any ideas or thoughts to consider to help in this decision would be very helpful. Thanks!
