Repairing a Motorized Lazy Boy Recliner : 6 Steps - Instructables
February 8, 2020 - In the first picture you will see the two linear actuators, the lower one that isn't broken moves the back part of the recliner, the broken one is the one that lifts the leg rest. The next two pictures are of why it failed, the "white metal" part fractured for some reason. The next picture is where the other end of the linear actuator connects to the lifting mechanism. I took off the linear actuator, copied the part info and did a quick internet search, not finding the same one, I decided to check out the Lazy Boy chair store in the next town.

September 16, 2023 -
I'm not sure if I should post this here or somewhere else.
I have a used La-Z-Boy recliner couch that I bought more than a year ago, and now one of the recliners backrest is broken in some way and it now always reclines even if the handle for the recliner is not pulled back, and it reclines far beyond it used to.
I either want to repair this for cheap or if it's too expensive then dispose it or sell it for free.
Would anyone here know who I can contact for this to check if it is indeed repairable?
I can't contact La-Z-Boy themselves as I have no clue what model this is and I bought it used from Facebook Marketplace so don't even know if it's under some kind of warranty.

I think La-Z-Boy still has a lifetime warranty for sofas, you should find the tags and call them. Tip the couch forward/backwards and either underneath or stapled to some exposed wood there should be some tag(s). Sometimes they’re on the rails of the recliner and somewhat hidden. Grab the “ACK Number”, basically the serial number. Then call them to see if they can either repair it or ship the parts to you.Probably still cheaper to do the repair then buy a new sofa.

I’ve had great experiences with lazy boy. They’ll come out and see what it is and then quote a repair.

December 22, 2021 - Depending how loose the leather is, you could pull it down around the bottom a bit tighter and staple it. Idk if you’d be able to pull it all the way down or not but it could help ... Cover it with wood? Elongate the existing wood up the back on both sides a bit. Cut, sand, stain, and nail it down. That way you arent messing with matching fabrics.

Most furniture have dust batting on the bottom sides. Most likely you will need to pull the staples to remove the cover to expose the mechanism to get to the loose screws. · Once you find the loose bolts/screws put some plumbers teflon pipe tape on the bolts/screws to use as a thread lock or get some Loctite thread sealer.

Remove the back, the swivel platform, if equipped, and the rocker platform. (Other sites tell you how to do that.) Open the chair to the reclining position. With the chair upside down, pull the staples holding the upholstery and "undress" the area where you see all of the play while moving the arm in and out. This will be on the front vertical corner edge of the chair. Look carefully at the gap that opens and closes as you wiggle the arm. You will see the gap and staple legs that no longer hold the two pieces together. You will also see the remains of green glue that once held, along with the staples, the arm section to an inside panel. Carefully increase the gap so you can cut the staples with a pair of dikes. Since it was once glued, I used Gorilla glue in the gap and clamps to pull the gap closed followed by a 6 screw angle bracket on the outside and screws from the inside of the panel into the end piece of the arm section that was pulled away. Always drill pilot holes for the screws. Re-dress the upholstery and re-assemble the chair. Wish I could show pictures on this site so you could see exactly what I am talking about. It is now stronger than it was and you would never know I had worked on it.
