It is reasonable to assume that some families belonging to these lineages might have ended up in the mountains, possibly adopting the Druze Faith. • According to the traditional Lebanese historical account, Amir “Ma’an ibn Rabia’a” (“

November 25, 2016 - The method involves recreating ancient gene pools from around the world, then comparing individuals’ genetic fingerprints to find a corresponding population. By analyzing the DNA of Israeli Druze and testing it against different populations around the Middle East, Elhaik and his colleagues tried to determine the population’s origins.

April 18, 2023 - HGDP cohort—The HGDP contains 929 DNA samples and WGS data from ethnically diverse individuals, including 40 Druze samples [10]. HGDP DNA samples were Illumina-genome sequenced to an average coverage of 35× (minimum 25×) and reads were mapped to the GRCh38 reference assembly as reported [10]. HGDP Druze study individuals resided in Druze villages in the Carmel and Galilee regions of Israel and not in the Golan Heights.

I know that Israeli druze really hate being called Arabs there cause the word Arab is associated with Palestinians in Israeli society but I have seen many Syrian druze also saying that they don't like to be called Arabs and rather identify as ethnically as Druze instead of Arabs especially after the recent events in Syria, do Lebanese Druze feel the same?

As a Lebanese Druze I can proudly say that I consider myself an Arab. Druze have existed in Lebanon ever since Lebanon was nothing more than Mount Lebanon and I will not fall to any kind of western propaganda that satanizes the Arab root. I am proud of my roots. I strongly condemn what is happening to the Druze in Syria but equally condemn the Druze that are falling to the false belief that Israel gives a shit about their well being.

Yea we’re Arab and identify as such. Syrian and Jordanian Druze would also identify as Arab. So did Palestinian Druze prior to Israel (and many still do). I think there’s a lot of history that is forgotten here. Lebanon was a bastion of pan-Arab thought prior to the civil war and Lebanese Druze were on forefront of this movement spearheaded by Kamal Jumblatt. Most Druze wanted to join the newly created UAR and be part of Nassers pan Arab project. Historically Druze were simply seen and saw themselves as an Arab Muslim sect within the Ottoman Empire, and we continue to see that even today politically although culturally there has been a growing rift exacerbated through the sectarian system. Throughout the resistance against the Ottoman Empire Druze fought with other Arabs for independence for an Arab state. And again against French colonialism especially in Syria and Lebanon. In fact most of the resistance against the French in Syria was begun by the Druze and their Bedouin allies. So yes in short Druze are Arabs, if you talk to our sheikhs most will claim that we are descended from Arabs who came from the peninsula (most are not but there is evidence some are) which is why we speak with the original 9af. This isn’t my own knowledge but mostly sourced from Fawwaz Trabulsi and Sami Makarem’s books
