I recently bought the Lenovo as a budget replacement for a laptop that crapped out on me a few weeks ago. I'm not a heavy gamer, nor a graphic designer, and I didn't expect much from the device, but after watching several benchmark videos and reviews on YT I was hoping I could at least enjoy some Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, or Battlefield V on low settings once in a while. Unfortunately, none of these games are playable, as I can barely reach 20 FPS at the lowest possible settings.
Is there anything I can do to improve my gaming experience, or is this just how poor this device is?
For reference, I can play Outriders on low/medium settings at around 30 FPS, Hades and Batman: Arkham City work fine.
These are my specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5500H, GeForce RTX 2050 4GB GDDR6, 1x 16GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200
Additionally, I added an 8GB RAM stick hoping for the dual channel to help, but it didn't seem to do anything. If anything, I think it's worse now?
I have the latest GPU/CPU drivers installed, however I removed both the NVIDIA and AMD Adrenalin app, as they didn't seem to do anything, plus I read somewhere that removing them might actually improve gaming experience. I also set all the NVIDIA settings to default.
I always game with the power cable plugged.

Install back the NVIDIA companion application ASAP ! You need the updated drivers for the GPU ! And RTX 2050 is an entry-level GPU, not designed for AAA game titles, but if you insist on trying to play them, select the lowest resolution possible and low quality settings, there is nothing that can help that low-end GPU.

A six core 3,3GHz system with a GeForce 3050 and 16GB is considered "low end" today? Apart from that: If you really want to, you can easily abuse any CAD software so that your computer barely crawls. But if you know what you're doing, you can get a full wind turbine in 16GB of RAM. Sounds like a weird thing to say, but that was my job 15 years ago, when 16GB of RAM and a 4 core CPU was the absolute top of the line, which is what I had in my office back then. For word processing... a literal single core CPU from 20 years ago and 1GB of RAM would be enough. More on reddit.com

August 31, 2024thoughts on the Lenovo Ideapad gaming 3? upgrading from surface book 2 which decided to stop using the gpu in it.
If you’re looking for 3050 Ti or similar, the IdeaPad is usually the top contender. And I don’t see how you could do much better at that price point. I’ve seen people ordering them for $900 More on reddit.com

I don't know about the build quality, but looking at the specs alone, looks like a very good value. Quite rare to find even rtx3050 laptops at that price (at least here in Asia lol), let alone rtx3060 ones. The GPU runs at 90W, correct? For the years left, I don't really know about the 3060 but I have a legion with a 2060 (80W), which is slower than a 3060 and it still runs newer games pretty well, so long as you don't run everything on ultra that is lol. Don't count on me though and definitely wait for other comments, I might be wrong. More on reddit.com

Hey, everyone! If anyone has owned or still owns a LENOVO IdeaPad Gaming 3 16" laptop, would you be able to give your review on it?
I one I plan to buy has specs:
CPU - AMD Ryzen 5 6600H
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB
RAM: 16GB
For £590 brand new in the UK.
I just want to know if anyone has had these models or similar and if there are any red-flags or things I should be aware of (problems/issues wise) before finally committing. Any "poor manufacturing choices" that are present before I buy?
I plan to use the laptop for Uni, basic Word, Powerpoint and OneNote. Also plan to use it for AutoCAD and Inventor for both 2D and 3D modelling.
Aswell as personal use like gaming: Fall Guys, Rocket League, Grounded, GTA5 and maybe RDR2. Alongside recording with OBS and video editing with Da Vinci. I honestly don't mind the performance of the games I play (simple 30-60fps, 1080p with medium-high settings would do me good).
