So... Librivox provide free public domain audiobooks. There are thousands of books on there often with multiple recordings. Some of the books are a single narrator, some change every couple of chapters.

But by it's nature, Librivox is very hit and miss. Some are great. Some are not worth the cost (and for a free item, that's saying something)

So, we are wanting to put together a list for the r/audiobooks wiki showing user recommendations for what is thest best of Librivox.

What we are looking for:

• if there is a particular librivox recording you have liked.

• a particular librivox narrator that does consistently good work.

What we do not want:

• General titles: "Count of Monte Cristo is a great classic.". Yes, it is. But unless you can point us to a specific recording that is actually listenable the comment is overly useful (at least not as a top comment)

• comments like "forget librivox, [professional narrator] has a version of [Public Domain Classic] for [value above free] on [Retail Site]

I was wondering how many here use Librivox.org? For those who don't know what Librivox is, it is a website where you can find public domain audiobooks read by amateur readers. There are a lot of famous books whose copyrights have expired. Some of my favorite authors are, Lewis Sinclair and Theodore Dreiser. You can even find Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and if you have not listened to, An American Tragedy or, 'The Trilogy of Desire' ( The Financier, The Titan, and The Stoic) by Dreiser then you don't know what you are missing. .
