I’m far and away from someone who blames victims of crime for what happened to them - you should be able to walk away from your car without being afraid it will be broken into.
But I have to ask - amid the local, regional, and even national news, the signs everywhere - how have you not heard about the problem in SF with car break-ins?

October 17, 2021Lombard St in San Francisco is so steep (15 degrees) that locals will sometimes put bumpers on their cars to protect against tourist doors flying open.
People can’t even be mindful of their door in a flat Walmart parking lot. The lack of awareness, at best, or, more likely, care...is disheartening. More on reddit.com

Is there an easy way to get to Lombard street that A) if with a car can avoid the start stopping on a very steep hill. Maybe park somewhere nearby and walk? B) uses public transport that’s nearby and also offers maybe starting in a nice neighborhood and going to there? May seem like a silly question, sorry - thanks for any advice!
