what are the best low maintenance house plants for a beginner?
Ornamental or edible? Ornamentals: Rubber tree (ficus elastica) is super easy. Just e out everyone I know who has houseplants has a monstera. Pothos. These come in a variety of different types, from neon green to dark green/white marble pattern. Most cacti are super low-maintenance, too. Aloe plants are easy and useful. Edibles: Green onion. Just take the bottom two inches of some fresh green onion from the grocery store and stuck it in some soil. Leave it near a window. I’ve been doing this with all the green onions I got from the store for a few months and I have a small forest of them now. Pineapple. Just twist off the top, tear off the bottom half of the leaves, and stick it in some dirt. These need a lot of light but not much in the way of water. For whatever you get, download the Planta app. Tell it about your setup and it will tell you when to water, what kind of light your plants need, and if you pay for premium, when to fertilize. I killed my share as a beginner. As long as you research the plant before you buy it, you should be able to pick the ones that fit you and your space the best. More on reddit.com
