How good is this deal? Is the die grinder worth it? For context I’m a service technician in HVAC and there are times having a multi purpose tool can come in handy, i also work on small projects at home on my own time
Hello all! So I recently got the Die Grinder to help with a rust removal for a restoration. For my Die Grinder, I ordered the 1/8 shank so that way I could use the Dremel and Ryobi wire wheels and grinding bits . As an example, each of these only lasted about 5 minutes before they lost all of their wires :

Therefore, I am currently disappointed, but feel that it must be something that I am doing wrong. I don't feel like I am applying too much pressure, so I'm not thinking that's the issue. But if anyone has any advice or suggestions, I would appreciate it
Those little wire brush wheels are not made for rust removal except for the lightest surface rust that is best removed by hand. Sorry to say friend that you are using the wrong tool for the job. Better to use an angle grinder with a sanding disc or get a big wire wheel and chuck it into your drill press like Eric does on Hand Tool Rescue.
Use a slower speed.
I do small to medium sized wood carving for fun, sculpture, utensils, etc. usually with hardwoods like walnut. I was thinking of getting the M12 straight die grinder for some of the rough removal and then the rotary tool for more detailed work.
Any opinions on if either tool is fit for the task?
PS corded tools aren’t an option for me where I live.
