Can someone recommend where to buy a Magsafe 2 charger that doesn't end up like this in 5 months?
can I use an 85w magsafe 2 power supply on a Macbook air?
Anyone have any experience of these USB-C to Magsafe 2 cables? | MacRumors Forums
Can a 45W MagSafe 2 charger charge my Macbook pro Retina late 2013?

The computer and the power adaptor negotiate the amount of power to send when you make the connection. The computer will not accept more power than it can handle.
I don’t work for Apple so I can’t tell you that officially it is “OK” but from all my experience I can tell you it is not a problem and we run the higher wattage supplies on MacBook Airs all day long.
I have a macbook air whose 45w power supply died.
The 85w and 45w were the same price and random people said it was ok to use the 85w on the bacbook air, which says it uses a 45w power supply.
So i figured why not get the more powerful one. the load from the macbook air would be less strain on it / potentially even longer life of the power supply. And in a pinch it could be used for other macbooks.
Getting it today though, I see the box of the 85w magsafe 2 says: only compatible with macbook pro. Nothing about OK to use with macbook air.
Is that anything to worry about? Have you heard one way or the other about using the 85w on a macbook air?
