Does Apple have Magic Mouse 3?
It's crucial to address a widespread misunderstanding regarding the Magic Mouse 3. Contrary to various reports and discussions, the term 'Magic Mouse 3' does not refer to an officially released product by Apple. Instead, this designation has mistakenly arisen from the inclusion of a USB-C to Lightning cable with the second-generation Magic Mouse, leading to the incorrect assumption that a new iteration has been launched. For the latest updates and expectations about the Magic Mouse 3, check out more details here: Magic Mouse 3 Release Date.

r/apple on Reddit: When is Apple going to modernize the Magic Mouse?
October 19, 2022 -
The original Magic Mouse came out in Oct 2009 and the Magic Mouse 2 came out in Oct 2015. It’s now 2023 and the design of the Magic Mouse is very outdated, with its charging port on the bottom and lightning port connector. Do you think Apple will bother to update the Magic Mouse a third time, or do you think they don’t care to? It would be nice to be able to change the mouse and use it at the same time, and to be able to use any usb-c cable laying around…

It would be nice to be able to change the mouse and use it at the same time The fact that it’s been this way for so long would seem to indicate that this isn’t nearly the real-world problem most non-users imagine it would be. It’s clearly a very intentional choice. If it moves to USB-C, I suspect the port stays on the bottom.

Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think it’s a stupid design choice having the charging port at the bottom, but I really don’t notice it except for maybe a few times a year where I charge it for an hour or so and it lasts another few months. Really not that much of an inconvenience if you monitor the battery levels. USB-C would be great though.

Apple Magic Mouse (USB-C)
This 2024 update to Apple's Magic Mouse swaps the Lightning port for a USB-C one, but the rest of the design—including its most puzzling flaw—remains frozen in time. Inverted-turtle charging persists into the USB-C era
