This is basically the same workflow I was using 6 months ago…lol. I find the use of an XL lora on a 1.5 model confusing too. Edit: I'm still gonna say SUPIR is superior to this even though I haven't spent a ton of time testing. SUPIR only loses with eyes for me - Imgsli

I'll stick with ChaiNNer and that upscaler model i renamed once into "iushdawibdaf" last year so i don't remember which it was originally but works insanely well for adding details and stuff when upscaling from crappy resolutions Also terrible product shill, the first image on your website and it's not even upscaling just img2img that completely changes the original image into something vaguely similar, and this is the big first image you seen when you enter the website, awful More on reddit.com

My thought is that zoomed in, in the second image the pilot's face is almost photographic, a notably different style from the rest of the image. And he has a different facial expression, but whether that's bad or good depends on what you're looking for. The first version uses a lot of halftone-style shading, which is mostly but not entirely eliminated in the second image. Again, whether that's good or bad depends on what you want style-wise. I think I prefer the MJ version for that, since it's more consistent across the whole image. But if you don't like speckles, of course the other one is better. Choosing between upscalers is mostly a matter of taste, but it's always better to have more options ;) And if you need more than a 2x upscale (very likely for printing wall art etc), you absolutely need a 3rd party AI upscaler. I use Topaz Gigapixel AI for this, also not free, but unlimited. And I haven't tried Magnific, but the other potential advantage of a GOOD AI upscaler is having a lot of settings so you can control how to handle blur, noise and so on. I assume Magnific lets you do that to. More on reddit.com

I see tons of posts where people praise magnific AI. But their prices are ridiculous! Here is an example of what you can do in Automatic1111 in few clicks with img2img

And also i made this in 2 minutes without tweaking things (i am a complete noob with controlnet and no idea how i works xD)
Play with checkpoints like EpicRealism, photon etcPlay with Canny / softedge / lineart ocntrolnets. Play with denoise.Have fun.
Put image to img2image.
COntrolnet SOftedge HED + controlnet TIle no preprocesor.

You're right but I think the appeal of Magnific AI is that you don't have do a bunch of tweaking and fiddling with parameters and settings. It's like Fooocus for upscaling/refining. If someone could make a no fuss plug in that kinda does this with Fooocus like usability for A1111 people would likely abandon Magnific type services all together.

November 23, 2023 - Magnific.ai does a lot more details and generally improves the image quality but at the cost of altering a lot of the image, it changed the beard color and made it more vibrant and added it in some parts where there wasn't, and worst it added two moles that weren't in the original image, completely altering it in the process, which means it's a horrible upscaler.
