How do you manage your email inbox?
I genuinely practice Inbox Zero at work and at home. I do a significant amount of communication via email, but I still keep my inboxes at less than 10 consistently.
-
Actionable emails are addressed immediately if it'll take less than 5 minutes or spun into a kanban card if it's something longer.
-
Once an email is handled (either through absorbing the info, completing the ask, or noting the action item elsewhere), it's archived. For stuff that I really don't need to keep, I'll outright delete (e.g. OOO / WFH notices).
-
I am aggressive about minimizing the number of emails that I get notifications for.
-
Unsubscribe from anything I don't need to be notified about in my inbox.
-
Create "skip the inbox" filters for things that I don't need to be alerted to (e.g. I get email notifications for all credit card & checking account activity, which I will sync up with YNAB; but I do it in bulk every couple of days; not immediately.)
