I purchased a box of SATC 72 PCS 5 Inch 8 Hole Hook and Loop Adhesive Sanding Discs for my Makita Sander and the discs always fall off prematurely well before being worn out. Is there an adhesive I can spray on them to get them to stay on longer or will that hurt my base? I don't know if the discs I bought are just poor quality or if this is a common thing. Do I need to buy Makita brand discs? I love the sander but hate that the discs fall off.

The disc should have a felt-like backing on them which shouldn't fall off prematurely. I have to give a decent pull to peel them off the pad. I personally wouldn't use adhesive, but the pads attached to the Makita are replaceable and relatively inexpensive.

Cheap sandpaper isn't worth the "savings" from a low price. There was a lot of buzz about 3M's Cubitron paper a year or so ago, and I tried it. It's worth the hype. At roughly 50-75 cents per sheet it's the best *value* out there. If you have a vac attached to the sander, get the mesh paper. If not, the one with all the little holes is fine. Here's a sampler. Yes it's over $1 per sheet, but the price goes way down if you buy in larger packs.
