What hand grinder should I get for coffee?
But once, Cry once.
I had a cheap cuisinart “burr grinder”… worst mistake.
After purchasing the 1zpresso JX pro.. made everything worth it.

This reminds me of this post a while back about the 1ZPresso JX. RogueWaveCoffee has a really detailed writeup about this comparing many high-end manual grinders in the comments, but tl;dr it should not affect grind quality.

I have the same grinder and I also considered to do the same. My concern wasn't about the ceramics but about the iron axis.
More specifically: if your drill isn't (perfectly) centered with the whole grinder axes, it will destroy it. Most likely, the faster it spins, the faster it will be damaged.
Also, the grinder axis isn't designed for a highspeed spinning (i.e. it doesn't have a ball beargin) and it will be damaged due to heat.

Ive been looking into the 1zpresso but am finding it hard to believe that 150 dollars for a coffee grinder is really worth it. Is there anything up to par as this grinder that cost a bit less, or should I stop being a “cheap ass” and buy it ?
