I just wedge an old pillow in the headboard space. I suppose it wouldn't work if your headboard were horizontally slotted, mine is solid. It's a cheap solution and you still have a useful pillow if it doesn't work. Answer from geekswrath on reddit.com

Hello everyone. I have a queen size mattress and bed frame from Ikea. Does anyone know what I can buy to fill the gap in so that my pillow and my wife's pillow does not keep falling into the gap? We have tried looking at the bed wedge matress foam in Amazon, but too many reviews were saying that after a couple or so weeks, it would just fall into the gap too.
Our preference is to fill in the gap where the foot of the mattress begins. Thank you all in advanced your your help.

I put together my MALM bed frame and put my Hokkasen mattress on top but there’s around a 3CM gap in between the end of the bed frame and the mattress. It makes the slats and underneath of the bed very visible and looks pretty unappealing. I thought it would’ve fit perfectly since they’re both Queen size. Is this normal for this specific bed frame and mattress?

You can lower the MALM bed frame's height of the mattress so it sits in a more embedded fashion. I've got two King size malm beds like that and they look much better that way. That gap helps a lot when putting sheets on etc, though to be fair it does look pretty big on yours. Has your mattress had chance to fully inflate yet? It takes a few days.
