I wouldn’t use it for laying tile but it’s cute when you want to get a rough idea of something. Like if it’s worth moving something big and heavy, you can find out if it’ll fit before you move it, instead of having it be an inch past the corner of the wall or something. Yes! It's accurate enough. And its the most underrated and probably underused feature!Everytime I need to measure something I always forget it exists and start looking for measuring tools... and its the same for all the people I know. from now on I'll keep in mind to use it.

r/IPhoneApps on Reddit: Is there a good ios app that works as a ruler?
May 27, 2025 -
Sometimes I just need to measure small things on the go — like screws, bolts, or packaging — and I don’t always carry a physical ruler. I tried a couple of apps like this phone ruler in mm that claim to turn your screen into a ruler, but some felt clunky or not very accurate.
Has anyone found a reliable phone ruler in mm that actually works well and is easy to calibrate? Ideally something lightweight, no weird permissions, and simple to use.

I use Ruler.ME almost every day for the same purpose. It's made by 7kit.cn which seems to be a legit company that's making money from the ads in their apps. I checked with a proxy (Proxyman) and the app does not send or request any data from China servers and it doesn't request any shady permissions, seems as safe as it can be.

Maybe one of those small ruler tapes like they use in sewing is what you should carry. If you still want an app There is a one from Apple called Measure.
