May 16, 2024Has anyone bought NEW mid-century modern style furniture? If so, what is your favorite retailer?
In general, I would avoid any furniture from West Elm, should your search take you in that direction. I have been fooled twice, buying what appears to be quality furniture, paying a lot of money, and being left disappointed. In short, they sell overpriced, cheaply-made furniture. More on reddit.com

It seems like so many people post here with the same old comments about how they’re wrong about something being mid century modern. At this point it seems like something can only be one of three well known brands or there’s arguments started in the thread. Is mid century modern not, by common definition, furniture produced from the end of WWII to the early 70s characterized by organic or streamlined furniture commonly made of wood, leather, or metal? So I’m asking the experts here what YOU consider mid century modern.

Plenty of wood and leather pieces of furniture produced in the mid century that is not of the mid century style. Lots of stuff with curly decorations does not fit Mid Century.
