Advice on Getting a Dutch Oven
I don't have experience with the Milo, but I would find it hard to justify spending that much on a Chinese-made Dutch oven when a similar Chinese-made Lodge can be had for $40 less. There are also even cheaper options, like Amazon's "Basics" line for under $50, and no-names available at Walmart and Target. Consensus seems to be that the French ones (Le Crueset and Staub) are lighter (debatable whether or not that's a good thing re:heat retention), have better-fitting lids, and have harder/thicker enamel coating. The coating durability will be the most critical aspect but with reasonable care any should last a long time. There's also the name-brand appeal, which isn't worth nothing, if you like having a fancy kitchen. If Chinese Dutch ovens (Lodge, Amazon, Milo) are like most other Chinese-made products, they will all probably be about the same -- with variance from one individual piece to another being greater on average than the variance from one brand to another. Milo certainly has the flashiest, most trendy web site. If you want to start cooking right away, grab a cheap one, and keep saving for the Crueset. Heck, you could get two Lodges of different sizes for the price of the Milo, and still not put a very big dent into your Crueset savings fund. I suspect that after using them for a while, the Crueset will be harder to justify. More on reddit.com
Made bread for the first time in my new Milo Dutch Oven. This robbery piece fell off after the first use. Is it important? Should I discard it or try to put it back in?
It’s a silicone gasket for the lid knob, perfectly safe.

Looks fine. But may as well buy lodge at far less. More on reddit.com
My milo Dutch oven arrived with this chip. They’re sending me a new one and I get to keep this one too. What a result!
I would call this playing double dutch!

Hello all, I am in the market for a Dutch oven and am looking for opinions. Currently I am slowly saving up for a Le Crueset one, but it's a big price tag. I stumbled across Milo Dutch ovens which aims to compete with brands like Le Crueset for a much more affordable price. What are people's experiences with Milo and is worth getting instead of continuing to safe up for a Le Crueset?

I have a lodge and I love it, I think the only big difference between lodge and the French ones is how large the flat area is at the bottom of the dish, depends on how much browning you need to do, etc

Milo Dutch Oven Review: Does This Weirdly Affordable Dutch Oven Actually Pose a Threat to Le Creuset? | Gear Patrol
August 25, 2022 - Its dutch oven is not as cheap as Lodge’s ($135 vs. $45), but it’s still firmly one-third what Le Creuset and Staub demand and claims at least equal performance and long-term durability. A bold proclamation, and one we had to test. ... The Good: It held heat noticeably better than my Le Creuset and just about even with a Staub, likely due to the more traditional heavy build it shares with Staub. The Milo also smartly borrows Le Creuset’s lighter-colored interior, which makes for much easier monitoring of browning meats and veggies.

Best Dutch Ovens for Braising, Baking, and Beyond (2025) | Bon Appétit
November 19, 2025 - It’s about a pound lighter than the comparably sized Le Creuset, which means it can heat up and cool down a bit quicker, but the thinner cast iron won't retain heat quite as well either. If you want a budget option and like the modern look (or you really want a moderately priced Dutch oven with a gold-toned knob), the Milo by Kana is a good choice.
