They're all equal performance-wise. I hate paddle sanders, so I'd go with the festool. I wouldn't upgrade from my makita unless I was spending over an hour sanding, every single day, and if I was sanding over 4 hours a day, I would hire a dedicated sander-helper.. lol Answer from WoodworkingisOVER on reddit.com

Mirka Deros VS Festool ETS EC | Which Sander Should You Buy? - The Wood Whisperer
June 19, 2022 - Even holding all three different types of mirka Sanders plus the drywall wand they feel so well built. I’m assuming all Sanders will have an LED ring built into them because the advantage of that is just exponential how easy it is to see imperfections and make the surface look better. Mirks isn’t aware of this yet, but festool ...

r/woodworking on Reddit: Other than Festool and Mirka, who makes the best line of sanders?
September 18, 2024 -

I recently picked up a set up of Festool sanders and vacuum that I am not overly impressed with. The tools definitely work well but I am having a hard time justifying the purchase when looking at the cost/finished product ratio. So, I may go back to using my Bosch set up which for the cost worked great.

I will say that something I love about the Festool is the variety of sanders and sanding pads that they sell. They have a sander for every type of job. It’s just too bad they are so expensive.

Before making this transition I wanted to ask what other companies make quality sanders that also offer a variety of options?

I don't have one, but I was going to buy one and then instead pre ordered the Planex 2 from Festool. The Planex 2 does have random orbital. Iirc the Leros is 5mm and the P2 is a 4mm stroke. The Mirka is lighter than the P2 and is a favorite ...

May 15, 2024 - I’ve got load of vacuums / dust extractors and sanders and they’re all ‘ok’ but feel I need something better. many thanks. ... I'll be looking at the replies you get. I need one too. Last time I researched I felt Festool had the edge. Then I saw how many models they do . Don't fancy buying the 1.3 Cortina because I didn't know. ... About a year ago I was thinking Mirka...but after research I bought a Metabo SXE 150-5.0 BL sander and teamed with my Metabo M class it's turned out to be a real winner.

Festool Planex Vs Mirka Leros - Decorator's forum UK
June 4, 2025 - This is my honest rundown of the Festool Planex Vs Mirka Leros. I hope you find it useful. I first tried the Planex last week and I was very disappointed, I mean really disappointed!! 90% of my tools are Festool so it’s safe to say I’m a Festool Fan. However, the Planex just didn’t do it for me. Way too many settings to mess about with and I always felt that I was fighting with the sander...

r/woodworking on Reddit: What sander? Festool? Mirka? 3M?
December 15, 2022 -

I recently used a buddies Mirka sander and realized I was living in the stone age with my little Makita. I have already had my heart set in the Festool then he said go Mirka and I’m lost. In my research I keep seeing the 3M sander and I kinda don’t know what direction to go now… although im positive it’s not 3M.

What do you guys prefer out of the Festool or Mirka?

The one I’m liking the most is the Festool Planex. The “anti-gravity” suction is a big plus, but do all vacuum sanders have this same feature? I also really like that it has the LEDs, just not sure it justifies the price. (I know festool is great, just not sure I need a festool lol)

Mirka or Festool dust free sanding | Detailing World Forum
Whilst the Mirka is excellent there is one downside in that the on/off dead man's handle is good when sanding it is annoying when you put the sander down on it and it springs back into life. I had considered selling my Mirka and my Vertool DA and replacing them with a Festool Rotex RO150 but I don't think that I could get anywhere near break even so I haven't bothered.

February 5, 2024 - I actually prefer the Mikra ergonomics; the 125mm and 150mm I have have a paddle on/off (vs switch on Festool) - some like that, some don't. r/paint on Reddit: Festool Drywall Sander
March 1, 2024 -

I own the Festool CT 15 HEPA Dust Extractor, and want to buy a drywall sander. I’ll be using it primarily to lightly sand walls and ceilings(that have already been painted/primed) in preparation for painting. I guess my question is, is there a specific model you all would recommend and do they all work with the dust extractor I currently own? I currently have a 8” disc sander I put at the end of a painting pole and also use the Festool Rectangular Orbital (which I LOVE). Hoping to up my efficiency and increase the quality of my work. Let me know your thoughts and thanks in advanced!

choice of festool sander -- advice please | Festool Owners Group
October 25, 2022 - The Mirka does remove material slightly quicker with the 5mm stroke, but it's not really noticeable in most day to day cases. I find the Festool a little more refined in use as well, less likely to bump an adjacent surface, or tear out splinters when softening the corner edge of a board.
