Moen MotionSense Kitchen Faucet Will Not Work
September 5, 2016 - Reinstall battery box under kitchen sink cabinet and connect power plug to faucet valve. 7. My valve now works both manually and automatically following this repair. 8. Issue was with the battery box tab solder connection. Cold solder connection most likely. Did not show up until I had changed out the batteries a few times. This caused the loose connection at the solder point. 9. Today is Easter Sunday, March 12, 2020. Moen's help line is closed today, but I plan to share my fix with them first thing Monday morning.

Moen faucet isn’t working manually even when batteries are dead
Here's my Moen touch-less Faucet review that Amazon refuses to publish I have had this faucet installed for about 6 months now with the voice activated module. I have updated the review with feedback I received from Moen Customer Support at the bottom, which honestly is not much help, they acknowledged the issues had no resolutions to offer. Pros: Very sturdy, looks great in my kitchen Touchless is a very nice feature, keeps the faucet from getting dirty The voice activated feature, when working, is actually accurate - i.e. "Alexa tell Moen faucet to dispense 1 tablespoon of water", "Alexa tell Moen faucet to dispense 4 cups of water", etc.. Cons: The faucet randomly turns itself on and water starts running when no one is in the kitchen. We think changes in sunlight are triggering this since our faucet is installed in front of a window. There doesn't seem to be any way to easily temporarily disable the motion sensor which is located on top of the faucet. The only solution I have found is to crawl under the sink and unplug the sensor. If the sensor is unplugged then you can't operate the faucet manually. When our power went out for a week during storms this summer, we did not initially have backup batteries installed, and we couldn't use the faucet at all until one of our neighbors loaned us batteries. If you unplug the faucet to keep it from randomly turning itself on, you have to crawl back under the sink to plug it back in. The water flow is strong and very strong. I have been thru all the adjustment/calibration options on the faucet and there doesn't seem to be anyway possible, either when operating the faucet manually or when voice operated, to allow the water to trickle and also to have a strong flow. You can trickle water if you turn the water valve under your sink to be only partially open, but then you won't be able to get a strong flow when you want it. Response from Moen: At this time there is no feature to be able to disable the sensor in the Moen app for your smart faucet. Also while the flow control feature in the app is unable to do a trickle you can do that by using the faucet handle (THIS DOES NOT WORK). As for the sensor being affected by the light coming in from the window maybe a curtain would be helpful if it is that close to the window. More on reddit.com

Anyone else fighting with their moen touchless faucet?
I've heard nothing but bad about these touchless faucets. In all honesty I recommend just changing it to a normal faucet that always works, and takes no electricity to work... More on reddit.com

The four most common touchless faucet maintenance issues and how to solve them
Cleaning or replacing the membrane should solve it. If NO, consider these possibilities: Measure the battery voltage. If it is very low (0-4V), a short circuit in the sensor or the cable is causing excessive power consumption.

r/Plumbing on Reddit: Moen MotionSense Faucet Won’t Stop Running – Advice?
March 30, 2025 -

Installed a Moen motion-sensing kitchen faucet about a year ago (battery-powered). Out of nowhere tonight, it won’t stop running—water keeps flowing even when no motion is detected.

Tried waving in front of the sensor, but no response. Haven’t replaced the batteries yet, but will try that next.

Has anyone experienced this? Any quick fixes before I call Moen support?

Thanks
